Good variety and I really love all of the Les Mills programs.
It is very friendly environment and good trainers.
Great facilities, lots to do, and very clean
Gym and swimming pool
Lots of group exercise choices. Friendly knowledgeable staff
Group exercise classes.
2 separate swimming pools for classes and lap swim. Hot tub.
Family friendly. There are activities for each family member to enjoy at the YMCA, including daycare so parents can workout and kids nights for parents to remain mentally healthy.
The gym. Really like the new circuit program.
Great instructors. Huge variety of classes and not just the popular ones. The classes I take are yoga, tone & stretch, balance, etc. Instructors are Katie, Jack, Lynda, Anne, Roya, Cheryl, Setsuko. All of them are wonderful instructors with compassionate caring personalities!
Friendly staff, always helpful & engaged with the programs & volunteers.
Clean restrooms.
❤ the new ping ping table! Thank you for the table & allowing us to set it up in the mind/body studio when not in use bumpy classes.
My only request, which I made before but nothing was done, is that there be some cardio classes without loud music. Loud music is not necessary for good exercising and accelerates hearing loss. I am sensitive to loud noises so there is no cardio class that works for me. I am not the only one; some of my friends have the same issue.
Also I think the yoga blocks need to be washed.
I have made a lot of good friends at the Y. It would be nice to enhance the social aspects. I work at home so the Y is where I go each day not just for exercise but for social interaction. I'm not sure what else you could do but some activities that bring people together would be nice. And not just people who already know each other, but activities that make it easy to meet others. Maybe joint activities with Mitchell Library & Community Center?
So many options at our Y!
Water exercise classes, lap swimming, land classes. And wonderful instructors.
Also, a nice way to meet people and make friends.
Big facility, well maintained.
Hot tub
Indoor pool... are all pluses.
I could not get my hands on the treadmills though was constantly full.
Clean environment, nice and polite staff, equipments are good maintained.
The hot tub and sauna are two features why I visit the Palo Alto YMCA out of my way on weekends. It is nice to relax after a workout. My hope is that more branches adopt such recovery methods.
The Y is a community center and I value the friendships I have made with members and with teachers. At which point I must say I very much regret Claudia is no longer on the staff. She was a terrific and encouraging teachers.
I love Annette’s leadership of the 7:30 AM core class! She is a wonderful leader her encouragement and the camaraderie keeps me going at such an early hour.
Sue is another terrific teacher. Her Zumba class on Tuesday mornings is a real workout and I appreciate her concern and care that we’re ‘doing it right’. One of the great things about that very active class is that there is no pressure to ‘keep up’. As with Annette’s core class, going at one’s own speed is what’s important.
I like the friendliness of the staff (e.g., we say hello to each other by name at the check in counter), the diversity of the members, the quality of the facility.
New eGym weight training equipment is excellent.
The Y is an important part of my M to F routine!
The variety
I appreciate the quality of the facility, with group workouts, the Banks Center, and the pools. I use all aspects of the Y. I also appreciate that the Y has quality programs for youth and children (and families). My children are grown now, but they still go to the Y with me.
I also appreciate the quality of the group exercise classes under the leadership of Orna. The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. I've been going to Body Pump and RPM and water aerobix for many years. I also love Fran's pilates class when I am able to get to it.
Our family has been a member since 1997. It's been a mainstay in our quality of life and access to good opportunities to keep fit and connected with a nice community.
Easy to sign up. Large pool and many lanes.
However, what happened to all the aqua classes?
There seems to be something for everyone and all ages
Name removed’s yoga classes. The best!
I have been really loving the advanced water aerobics at 10:15 on Mondays and Thursdays. Marina is a fantastic teacher, and the time of the class is just perfect for me. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to make my life better!

The 2 hour child care is my 18 month old daughter's favorite activity. We come 3x a week so that she can play and interact with other kids. The staff are amazing, friendly, and I can tell that they really care about the kids under their care. We especially like that you have a shaded outdoor area for her to run around to get the wiggles out, and do arts and crafts, and plenty of room to run around inside on rainy days with big windows for lots of light.
