Lot of activities! great club.
Good staff and good variety of exercise equipment.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The Livestrong program is wonderful & supportive. The pool is always at a comfortable temperature.
The staff are some of the friendliest people that I have ever met. The growth of the facilities is coming along great and can’t wait to utilize the new areas.
Thoroughly enjoyed the senior aerobics classes I took on Fridays. Wish I could have joined on Tuesday and Thursday as well, but I work in Cambridge those days. The Friday classes gave me a welcome break to my workday and was the highlight of my week! Fran is awesome-sauce!
Clean pool clean lady’s shower
Friendly and helpful staff.
Love the different activities at all the metro north Y's. I do wish some classes were offered more than once- the popular ones get so crowded that it's not enjoyable or worth going sometimes.
The entire staff of the Melrose Ymca is awesome! They are polite, helpful and exceptionally friendly and inviting. Rubens is a stand out aquatics director that obviously has trained and managed his guards with care. They keep a well maintained and well ruled pool and keep us all safe. The front desk staff goes above and beyond to be helpful and fix our every need. And what can we possibly say about Bea!!!!! She is a gem and we are all so lucky to have her each and every class. She has a loyal following for a very good reason. Education and body mechanics are at the core of Beas teachings but we keep coming back because she puts a smile on our faces and makes us laugh! She is truly the spirit of the Melrose YMCA!
they are fun, people are great and instructors amazing.
Love the community support
Wonderful classes
But need more TRX, Yoga and BST.
The instructors! They put so much heart into the classes - incredibly motivating (it's clear that they all love what they do)
Fitness centet
Excellent instructors
Great classes and fun activities just the perfect combination!
The swim instructor Issac is great. The only opportunity is to expand the adult swim class area from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. 2 lanes is simply not enough for the class size (people swim into each other and not enough space to actually practice the moves) and the other lanes for open swim aren’t always used anyway. I’m specifically referring to sundays from. 8:30-9:00am. The other classes run concurrently so all lanes are used. In summary, either space out the class times more to allow for more lanes in a given class or reduce class capacity (which is not preferred).
Michelle is an excellent teacher. I take both her classes in yoga and TRX.
The website is easy to navigate to sign up for classes.
They are affordable and offer so many choices.
Michelle is an amazing yoga instructor! She always finds the right combination of strength, stretch and meditation/relaxation without getting into a repetetive rut. I always look forward to her classes.
The classes and personal training.
I've been a member for 34 years, I've tried all the classes, swim, use the fitness center, my 3 boys learned to swim there, great place for everyone.
Exercise classes are great. Melrose Y renovations will provide very attractive workout spaces and represent a real long-term commitment to Melrose.
Have different classes for everyone’s level
Wide variety of activities to select from, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, and promise of dazzling new spaces to work out make the Nelrose Y a winner!
I like how friendly everyone is and that there is someone around that I can easily ask questions if I don't understand how to use a machine.
I really love the group exercise classes
Aquatic program is great for seniors.
The instructors are excellent.
The updated women’s locker room is very nice.
Convenient location. There is rarely a delay for the equipment I use. The Volunteer, Steve, in the Fitness Center is very personable.
The one issue is parking. Very hard to find parking. Might want to go to stickers and enforce it.
Great work-outs with great instructors. Very friendly and helpful staff. Its my 'Happy Place."

I only use the workout space and I'm looking forward to the completion of renovation. The only issue I have is that people scroll on their phones for a long time while sitting on exercise equipment and the staff never intervene. Clients have to do it themselves and it's awkward. There's one sign asking people not to do it, but since this isn't enforced, it makes no difference. I don't see why people have to have their phones at all with them while working out. But, that doesn't matter. What matters is that they can't stop looking at them while others are waiting to use the equipment.
