Great offerings and wonderful instructors
I love Nicole's Fitness after Menopause class. Nicole fosters a can-do supportive environment which keeps folks coming back!!
Programs well planned and instrutors are great
Group classes have been great for getting my kids more comfortable with water and basic skills. My 4-year-old also does private swim at the Y which we have loved and is more compatible with his needs and how he will best learn, so we feel lucky to have that option!
My son has made amazing progress this year in his class with Ashley. She follows a similar rhythm every class but still diversifies tasks to challenge each student appropriately. I am so grateful for her!
Easy to access, well-run
Everything
Great workout space, staff is attentive and friendly. Coach Alex does a great job with the kids basketball program!
My grandson only takes the swim classes
He has been a member for 3 years
He enjoys his classes
I really like the Aqua Stretch classes taught by Roubins, the Aquatics director. I love the pool & it is great for seniors like myself with arthritis & other physical issues. The water is so forgiving, great to exercise in & Roubins makes it a fun class!
A good variety of classes. The equipment is in good shape and usually available. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
I like the connection with community and convenient location. The upgrades at the Melrose Y are great.
There are many class options to choose from and classes are offered pretty much all day 5 days a week and classes also available on the weekends. The instructors are great . I particularly enjoy Jeff Dodds chair yoga, Julia Pollards stay fit class and chair Pilates class along with Dev Bennett stay fit class. The space is clean and the reception staff are friendly and inviting . Yes I highly recommend the Y
I am very pleased with the Roubins, the instructor! He makes the classes fun and invigorating! I like the schedule of 1-2, T & Th, it fits into my scheduling routines perfectly. I have already recommended Aqua Stretch to many current members as well as friends that have yet to join Melrose YMCA.

I like the sense and feel of this particular Y for community & classes focused on women’s health like fitness for menopause. I like the idea of having mindfulness classes to be added.
Classes are fun and instruction keeps me motivated.

I’m enjoying the strength training program with Dev and I hope to try out more programs this spring.
Easy to sign up
They make exercise fun!
I really like the workout classes. Veronica is the best instructor I have ever had. She works you hard, but it is a good hard. I feel like I can take on the world when I am done with one of her classes.
I like how everything is renovated but I wish there was a steam room.
The classes and instructors are terrific.
I have not participated in any programs, other than my own lifting at the gym.
However, space is often highly cramped - I am wondering if there's a way to expand (or encourage use of studio space when not in use) the spaces for HIIT work e.g. the turf area is usually slam packed.
Decent selection. Would like to see more yoga in the am!
I love Tina Leach’s pickle ball clinics.
Alex is AMAZING!! He’s a great teacher and my kids love having him as a coach.
I applaud the Melrose's Family YMCA's commitment to community building, holistic wellness, and high quality guidance and training. The facilities have been very well maintained after the renovation that happened a few years ago, and I feel like the space is well-utilized for its class and activity offerings. The administrative staff is warm and welcoming (Hello, Vonette and Sheila!), and I always feel well taken care of if I have a question.
Lauren Sanford is my amazing personal trainer, and I'm a proud member of Nicole Wade's army of badass Fitness for Menopause athletes.
This past quarter has been a difficult one for me in terms of fitness. I re-injured my right knee earlier this year and have been working with a PT to alleviate the discomfort.
Lauren Sanford has been my partner and champion as I've been figuring all of this out. She has been flexible when I've needed to take breaks because of the pain, and she's been brilliantly creative in her programming to keep me moving safely in my recovery. She's asked thoughtful questions about the PT's recommendations and she's vigilantly been monitoring my form and my comfort levels as I've been on the mend.
Training with Lauren is one of the highlights of my week, and I always feel strong and proud of myself coming out of her sessions. Her shining star is on the rise - well worth celebrating!
I'm so glad to see that Nicole Wade's role has expanded into the YMCA's leadership team and that her gift for supporting and elevating the women around her is being recognized.
Nicole is a Swiss army knife among fitness and wellness trainers - a Pilates guru, a laser-focused personal trainer, a heart-driven wellness educator, and an advocate for women's health through detailed data-driven communication. Her passion for empowering women has grown the Fitness for Menopause program exponentially, and I feel very lucky to have a place on her team.
Thank you all for treating us like family, and I look forward to participating in more YMCA programming in the spring and summer.
I have meet so many nice people, instructors, other members and the people at the front desk.
I have been challenged both physically and mentally.
