The Salem Y is a fantastic place for too many reasons to list here, BUT I have a "critique". There are too many (usually younger) members, who, when using the weight room, will be finished with their set on a machine, and then just remain sitting on it, playing with their phone or confabulating with their friends, while others are waiting patiently to use that equipment. I'm talking FOR TWENTY MINUTES OR LONGER! Wouldn't anyone find this unacceptable? I don't want to say anything to another gym member but maybe the staff could hang a sign politely reminding members not to hog the machines if they're not using them (for their intended purpose). There's plenty of places to just "hang out".
I love the wide variety classes. It's very convenient being downtown. In wish there c was a juice bar or something for an after workout treat. That said, it's awesome.
I find myself at the Salem Y more and more these days. I got out of the habit of exercising over the summer but once you [re-]enter the Y's welcoming doors, everythiing is there to help you get back into leading a healthier life, from spin classes to core strength classes and yoga, to the pool and all that offers, to volleyball and other sports. The staff offers some out-of-the-box experiences too, such as Sound Healing and Restorative Yoga and a new LiveStrong group. As well as all that, if you have little kids, there is babysitting so that you can relax while taking care of yourself. Plus, the Salem Y has a sliding scale for their monthly fees so that almost everyone can become a member. Being a member is a win/win sitation for the community and the members.

My grandson just started Kindergarten & attending the after school program. He’s still undecided about Kindergarten, but he’s loving his time at the program.

I am so happy to have my daughter in the swim lesson. She is only 2.5 years old and is a swimmer thank you for the teacher and their very great way to teach the kids to swim.

I love my Y and always recommend it to friends. The teachers are very welcoming and inclusive and the range of classes is wonderful. I am addicted to the gym - how great is that!!! Special shout out to Laurie-Sue Rodrigues who has put together a fantastic team of teachers at the Lynch van Otterloo Y.

Awesome facilities, super friendly staff, huge selection of places to go. Ive been a member at a few other gyms and its no contest - you have a pool, a steam room, a sauna, free classes, basketball courts, pickleball, squash - what other gym is going to have so much for so little?

The classes are great
The great array of classes to choose from ~ both water and land. It is just terrific and the coaches/teachers/instructors of the various super balanced classes are terrific as well. I also appreciate the abundance of open lanes for general swimming time as well, as distinct from lap swimming only. I highly recommend.

The instructor Pauline is excellent,she is professional,inclusive and accommodating.

Our two kids loved the Creative Arts summer camp, every day they came home happy and excited about things they worked on or created. The team at the Camp were amazing, especially Jay and Justin!! Thank you to everyone, Ethan and Maya want to go again next summer.
The daycare program is fantastic! Over the past 30 years I have had three children enrolled from infant to toddler to after school care & summer camp and I can't say enough good things about all of it. Very pleased & always mention to others.
