Member Testimonials
They have everything I need for a good workout. It’s kept clean. Updated equipment. And the price is reasonable for a family membership.
The teachers are supportive, caring and helpful. I very impressed by the curriculum and activities the kids do both physical and mental. I have seen my daughter grow significantly in just a few months of attending.
The location is very convenient
There are many different classes that are available to pick from.
All of the people at the Y are friendly & helpful.
Considering the amount of people that pass through the Y doors every day they do a good job communicating issues that may arise regarding changes in schedules.
Great facilities and programs to support the community and friendly knowledgeable staff that makes it fun and inviting.
I belonged to Sterling Center in the early 80’s. I loved going there to complete my university’s requirement of 2 years of phys ed. The current facility is amazing. I really enjoyed the hydropower. Beautiful light from the windows, equipment and facilities are very clean. I like how you’ve expanded the parking. I did note quite a few people speeding in the lot. Perhaps putting in speed tables would curb that. Otherwise everything was great. I normally go to the Ipswich Y since that’s where I live, but Beverly was handy on voting day when the lot was filled in Ipswich!
So much to do in regards to fitness. The staff is super help for the new comers, classes are great, instructors are very helpful and it’s affordable for everyone!!
Friendly staff and teachers. Clean, high quality facilities.
Great facility great equipment great people great community.
We are so happy to be a Y family! April’s yoga class has changed my life, and the way she has formed such a caring community full of people of all ages and walks of life is something truly special.
My kids love gymnastics and swimming at the Y, and they enjoy going to the Kids Club, which has been a life-saver for me since they were born.
If I have one complaint, it’s that Kids Club hours are regularly restricted precisely on the days parents need it most. One hour of Kids Club does not even give a parent enough time to attend a regular class, let alone a 75 minute yoga class. You sign your child in, then you have to get to class, set up your equipment, take the 60 minute or 75 minute class, and clean down before picking the kids back up. 90 minutes should be the minimum in order to actually be useful for parents. While we understand that the staff doesn’t want to be overwhelmed with kids, it doesn’t help parents to have a one hour limit. Yes we are grateful (and we have heard some staffers grumble about how parents should be grateful for whatever we’re given), the kids club exists to allow parents the time they need to work out, and 60 minutes doesn’t cut it. Nothing is worse than 5 sad moms leaving yoga in the middle of class! Kids Club should be prepared with additional staff on Election Day, weekends, holidays, etc. In general, it’s important to parents that the kids club schedule coincides with the YMCA’s other schedules. For example, the kids club opens at 8:15, which means that no one can take an 8:00 class, of which there are many great ones on offer. Pre-Covid, it opened at 7:45 so parents could take an 8:00. Another example is that kids club is not open during open gymnastics Youth, which runs at 2:30. So if you have a child under 6, they can’t be in kids club while their sibling does gymnastics. It’s super important to look at the schedule as a whole, from the perspective of a parent who is actually trying to navigate it. If you ever want to run any ideas by a parent who is at the Y all the time, I’d always be happy to share my thoughts. Feel free to reach out anytime. Thanks!
It's a nice YMCA, although a little hot sometimes, but better with the curtains. They could be put down more. I like the classes, but wish there were more. Cycle late morning or noon again would be nice. Maybe some new cardio classes like kickboxing. Very nice staff, well maintained.
Great facilities & sincere effort of staff to make everyone feel welcome; if I had kids I’d probably have more reasons but seeing other people’s kids careening around the place typically brings a smile to my face.
Great, inviting atmosphere. Great classes and pickleball too!
Far too many people sit on machines and scroll on their phones. There should be large signs around the gym that says that behavior is prohibited. Or there should be a code of conduct that is on posters.
Great atmosphere clean and great equipment
Great community!!
The Y continues to have gracious and competent staff, including the maintenance crew who does a fine job keeping the space clean and sanitized. There have been a few problems lately that I will share with you.
