I like the wide range of activities available. I spend most of my time in the cardio and weight room and love the ease with which I can move from one machine to another to get a full body workout. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the facility is always spotlessly clean. Just feel great being there every day.
I learned how to swim at the Lakewood YMCA. Nothing surprising about that. That is what one does. However, I was 72 years old and my physician told me I was too old. I was using the aerobic equipment and watching the pool. I went to the front desk and signed up with a teacher (Amy) who seemed much to young and she taught 5 year old's.
The first lesson we sat on the edge of the pool and talked. The second lesson I actually got into the water. For 8 months she was either next to me, behind me or in front of me going back and forth in the lane, always within reach. The three times I did get in trouble, Amy pulled me to the side. Finally Amy walked along the side of the pool and watched. I had graduated. Almost 74. I dropped the M.D. who tried to discourage me and swam regularly for the next 9 years.
I thought I would be swimming until I came to an timely end. It ended but due to a flu vaccine shot which triggered shingles in my left arm. It was left almost useless and I couldn't swim. With therapy at the Lakewood Cleveland Clinic I regained some strength but then Covid came on the scene and now my swim bag is in the closet.
I'm only 83, exercise daily in the condo and hope to get back to the Y after September. The Lakewood YMCA has saved my life.
I like/need these activities: Adult lap swimming, jacuzzi, sauna. From my observation I believe there is enough room to add the steam room. Massotherapy should also be revisited. They did a great job updating the sauna room, thank you.
The meditation class with Mercedes on 6-3-21 was great. The room was quiet which was very important to me so I could hear the meditaion guidance. I left more refreshed than when I came.
Thanks
Love the pool, hip hop class with Gail, hours are good, like the newer machine

We love the Pathways child watch program to allow the opportunity to be able to work out and know that our toddler is being well taken care of. I donβt have her name, but the woman in charge in the Lakewood Pathways child care center on Sunday mornings goes above and beyond every time and this past Sunday, my son didnβt want to leave when I went back to pick him up after my workout!
I like the deep water workout. I used to go to other classes before Covid

First and most important the respect that it can be breath in any of the places that I go when I am at the Y. The group exercises are prepared and fun
I have only one complain: there should be a schedule for the people who train with heavy weights. The reason is because it is absolutely disturbing for the auditory sense the amount of decibels produced when the person leaves the weights to fall down to the floor when finishing a series of repetitions. On the other hand It should be out of the quality of the well being of the rest of the people in the same room practicing any other type of exercising. I hope that is corrected because it gives the impression of a very low quality exercising facility with no rules where each person does whatever wants to do.
A big selection of weight machines, lots of treadmills.
A diverse selection of classes, for all ages & levelsof activity.
Silver sneakers program is great for seniors!
The equipment is cleaned and the members act responsibly.
I primarily swim, and I love the community at the poolβthe families in lessons, the lap swimmers of all ages, and the lifeguards are all tremendous. That environment is the highlight of my week.
Additionally, the front desk staff is exceptionally warm and competent (big ups to Jack, Orlando, and D). Interacting with them on the phone or in-person is a treat.
I like how welcoming everyone is and how there are activities for every skill level.
Friendly staff, great programs and clean environment. I think the active senior adult program is great and Ursula is so welcoming and friendly to me as a newcomer. She teaches a great arthritis exercise swim class too. I'm so glad this YMCA membership is available to me through the Silver Sneakers program. I actually look forward to exercising now.
Love the family shower rooms

I like the programs can be taken at flexible times. There is something for everyone to do at this place I
