We had lifeguards Jake and Donna. They were EXCELLENT lifeguards! Donna even turned on the slide when we began asking about it and my daughter seemed interested in it. She also moved skillfully around the pool pointing things out at times but always explaining why such a rule exists. Her answers were always formed around kindness and awareness. Jake was also extremely helpful answering questions when needed and just really kind to me and my kids as well. They both had such a pleasantness about them that it just makes your heart happy and your soul feel healthier at the end of a nice swim day. I'm so happy to of found this location with such extraordinary people. They really do just make a difference in your life.
Very helpful patron service - signing up for my membership was very easy. I really love the friend referral program to make my family membership more affordable while helping another family reduce their membership price.
Very well laid-out wellness floor with plenty of equipment for everyone. I like the open gymnasium time.

Friendly, laid back yet helpful, very thoughtful staff. Every YMCA has spaces for working out, most have child care. A great many have pools, and always at a super competitive price, or even well under other fitness options. But this YMCA has amazing staff, and that makes all the difference
I use and enjoy the group exercises and I like the social contact. The facilities are good overall, except for some maintenance issues, such as fans that do not work. It remains to be seen whether the new reservation system will work smoothly. The lobby area needs some kind of sound dampening as it is very difficult to hear anything when that area is full of people all talking at the same time.

Luter YMCA is exceptional. Very clean with new machines! We had intended to join when they were waiving the join fee, but missed it. Fortunately, Luter was running another (and better) discount promotion. Madison was very friendly (and funny)! She made the sign up process a breeze.

I have been a member for years and enjoy coming to my YMCA in Smithfield, Va. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Gym is clean and equipment is in great condition. I would recommend this Y to everyone

The Ft Monroe gym is nearby, meticulously clean, and well maintained. The equipment is well maintained and functional.
The indoor pool where I do my own version of water aerobics at 8am 6 days a week. It is great to have this facility near my home.
The staff is friendly, the facility is clean and I like the classes. I just wish there would be some more water aerobics offered around 10a or 11a.
