Friendly & helpful staff, great instructors for the Silver Sneakers program and a facility that allows for a lot of different activities.
Our concern will be on available parking space. We started this summer and understand the winter months attendance increases. Hopefully a solution is in the works!

Great casual environment for kids to play!
We really enjoyed volleyball season, and the group of kids and coaches was great. It was a low key setting for kids to learn and I saw some kids (including my own) grow tremendously grown in both volleyball skills and confidence.
My only suggestion would be to have practice earlier in the week vs having practices on Friday evenings and games Saturday mornings. Even my son (the volleyball player) commented that he wished his volleyball time was spread out more during the week, vs consolidated within a 12 hour period.

Miss Claire and the entire after school Y staff is amazing. We’re on our second year here and couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.
Wonderful organization with a top tier staff
My child loved it. I like the smaller time commitment. I’d recommend raising the basketball goals during volleyball games. They did interfere with several plays for our team this. I also realized that our team consistently only had 7 players show up to games/practices. We had 10 or 11 on our roster and never saw 3 of the after the first week. This was somewhat unfair when playing teams that consistently have all 10 show up. Our team didn’t get that needed rest or ability to rotate out. If people quit the first week or 2, redistribute the teams if there is a big discrepancy.
Coach Armani is absolutely wonderful
We’ve had such a positive experience with the South Tampa YMCA basketball program. Over the past year, our child’s confidence, teamwork, and skills have grown tremendously. The coaches create an environment that is supportive, energetic, and focused on developing each player — not just as an athlete, but as a person.
It’s clear that the program is thoughtfully led, with a strong commitment to helping kids thrive both on and off the court. The structure, communication, and positive team culture have all made a lasting impact on our family.
We’re very grateful for the dedication and passion the coaches and director bring to this program. It’s truly one of the best examples of what the Y stands for — community, growth, and encouragement.
