Member Testimonials
Beautiful campus. Great outdoor pickleball courts. Friendly members.
Pickleball. Drop in childcare. Nice equipment in the gym. Please consider giving PB shot specific clinics again, when staffing stabilizes, for intermediate and advanced levels.
The availability of the pool.
I will recommend everything at the Y except for the theatre productions. The scheduling has been a little bit crazy and the demeanor of the lead person has resulted in my daughter deciding that she will not do any plays at the Y in the future. practices ending at 945 pm on school nights are unacceptable for elementary aged kids.
There are many options and choices for your workout all day. The activities are professionally conducted and friendly to all levels, you can train at your pace. Trainers are very kind, supportive, friendly, and motivates you to achieve your fitness goals.
Open swim outdoor pool
Friendly!
Great environment for learning for the kids as well as many outdoor opportunities.
The programs and activities bring people from all different backgrounds together.
I especially like that there is room for people in their vulnerable teen years to have healthy interactions with their own peers as well as people of all ages.
The swim team coach Jamie is a living legend.
Friendly associates and members in the UMLY community.
We enjoy the family/therapy pool for open swim
Your programs are not only great but YMCA helps out in the community and provides low cost membership to those in need.
Everything
The people are great; both staff and participants!

I enjoy playing pickle ball and I like using the workout facio
Love that you provide enough pool lanes for those of us who love to swim everyday so we can do what we do enjoy doing. I love that all those who work for the Y are dedicated and full of commitment to service. I love that the Members are full of love for the Y too

It has been a very welcoming experience.
I feel very fortunate to have the use of excellent pools for lap swimming, as well as a very good hot tub to massage my lower back.
pickleball, zumba, yoga
Excellent staff, facilities and equipment, I would like to especially acknowledge the strength, fitness and conditioning 1:1 training with Mr Steve Fowler. Steve excellent training and coaching as well as his attention to my ques on posture to correct methods for working out the various muscle groups has together helped me make significant progress in turning various what seemed just 90 days ago to be insurmountable chronic health and wellness issues emanating from a combination of lower back, neck/shoulder, to hip and IT band pain, pretty much every muscle type was showing deficits which seemed insurmountable to turn around. My family and I are grateful to the excellence in training provided to me by Steve which in just 90 days helped not just improve the pain but has changed my outlook on what I thought were things I would struggle doing again. A big kudos and thank you for all that Steve has done for my health and thank you to the Y for selection of excellent staff such Steve that bring their best to each interaction with clients like my self.
The Y has always been a fabulous facility, but I feel that some of the changes in recent years have not improved it from my perspective. The facilities in the "new" wing that was built about a dozen years ago are great -- the large workout room and exercise rooms, etc. But there have been other changes that made me less happy, and made the facility less beneficial for me -- and no doubt for some others. For example, the loss of the steam room and sauna in the men's locker room -- and the way it must now be accessed -- is a major minus. So, too, the loss of many tennis courts for the new pickle ball courts. And the division of the A pool into just three swimming lanes and the rest for a shallow recreational area also has been a great loss -- causing fully half of the lanes in the best overall pool to be lost to swimmers. Also, the fact that the heater is now broken in the C pool has greatly compounded the problem of a shortage of good swimming options. I'm also not sure that the astroturfing of the former grand entrance is for the better. Although I'm sure there were strategic reasons for making these changes, overall I feel that the Y was a better facility ten years ago than it is now.
I like to swim and UMLY offers lots of pool time including outside in the summer.
I very much appreciate the help of the Upper Mainline YMCA membership director in a recent discussion regarding affordability of membership as a result of changed circumstance. I have been a member since 2003 and will happily continue.

It’s a very healthy and nice environment. People are helpful and encouraging each other to do a better job every single time.
I made lots of new friends through years being here and thank you for your services 😊😉
