I like the staff and how they work to try to get us the equipment that we request if it is possible. Most of all, I respect and value Ashley Ciccarelli - Lazarowicz who leads Silver Sneakers at 6140 O street, Genesis in Lincoln NE. She challenges us and encourage us to push our limits. We lovingly call her our Drill Instructor. (DI) All of the staff is friendly and encourage us at the gym.
Sophie writes encouraging and challenging quotes on a white board to keep us motivate us.
I have a membership at Miramont South..paying $65 a month and literally cannot attend some classes and have to walk out early from others because the air conditioning is Not working. It’s physically dangerous to do a cardio workout in a room that’s 82 degrees.
I think members at this club branch should receive a discount on their membership until the problem is fixed. In truth..I’m thinking about dropping this Club and joining another one.
I appreciate your asking this question.
The club needs a lot of work. The ceiling leaks, the locker room is old and run down, the weights are is dirty, cracked mirrors, ice machine never fixed, broken glass on one of the tennis doors for over 6 months
The staff and the equipment available.
Poor equipment and building upkeep.
Programs started and then faulted and members no Notifications.
The gym is not clean.
The bikes in the cycle studio are not maintained well. Members of the class replace batteries to keep the monitors on the bikes running. This is not acceptable.
I go to this gym because I love Amber Brenda Lisa Garrett classes and they are wonderful instructors. Otherwise, I would not attend this gym.
Feel current members concerns are not addressed. Spin room taken away with no input from members. Have asked numerous times for additional hand weights in aerobic room. Not an expensive item.
No suggestions
I like the cardio and free weight. Good hours. I didn't like that the Y was closed on Sundays because that is my best workout day.
The equipment is not maintained. One station was broken and stuck on 50 pounds. A lot of cushions on equipment is cracked. There needs to be a large bucket of antibacterial wipes in area rather than a couple small bottles of spray that people rarely use. There was a member working out on Nautilus equipment who smelled so bad that he ran everyone off from working out in the area. It was not sweat odor, it was a horrible lack of daily hygiene and it was intolerable nor did anyone want to use the equipment after him. Genesis employees need to be roaming these areas and making sure equipment is cleaned and members are not running others off. You’re going to end up have members not come back and cancel if you can’t control and improve upon the required maintenance to run an “elite” gym. Not going to renew if this doesn’t change. Run a quality gym and require members to be presentable and staff to manage it.
Purchase some newer yoga mats. Some are getting wore out. Also, a better cleaning policy would be nice. Enforce rules more…..there are several things I see that are in the manual stating that we shouldn’t do.
The pool area needs some work. The walkways around the pool and hot tub needs to be cleaned. In the last few months there are many times when the pool and or not tub where not clean.
The place is always way too hot.
Many cardio machines do not work.
When breakers are blown, and I ask for them to be flipped, I get a reaction as if I am a bother and it takes up to 15 mins for someone to do it.
The class room needs more than 2 sets of 10 lb dumbbells and there are no longer any 12 lbs.
Only 2 ceiling fans work in the classroom and one is super squeaky.
We have also asked for more fans for that room when it is so hot.
Thank goodness potholes were finally fixed.
I used to go there every day when I joined Genesis, because it is only a few miles from my house. Now I only go Saturday morning. I attend Boardwalk the rest of the week. When it gets icy, I will not attend Vivion at all, because the parking lot is never salted, and I have fallen 2x.
The proximity and ease from my home for the Westroads location. The open field/cross training area is what sold me as I do not tend to use nautilus equipment or free weights. Also the basketball court is full sized and great to shoot around and get warmed up. The staff is super friendly and the trainers are knowledgeable and are often practicing what they preach, when you see them training themselves.
The hours that the club is open, the variety of exercise equipment and the classes that Genesis offers (both free and ones that you have to pay for).
I love the group fitness classes.
Very clean!
Old equipment
Day care is usually way to hot
Needs a face-lift overall
Sauna smells like chemicals
Tanning bed doesn’t work
Need more free weights
It is a really nice and complete place. I feel really motivated to keep going!
Machines are often broken and remain so for a unbelievable amount of time. Management is full of themselfs. Changing room is dirty and the swimming pool is also dirty looking. Come on management, stop flaunting oround and get busy earning your paycheck!
the gym need to be updated badly and there are never any towels and no equipment for water aerobics and you go to West roads and they have everything
Maintain the equipment better. For example, the spin bikes are very old and tired. The 4 elliptical machines are slowl falling apart, the covers on handles are decrepit, the little "shelves" on the ellipicals where you place your phones are pretty much gone. The place just has a "tired" feel to it. I understand that the pandemic was hard on the business but it seems to me the lipstick on the pig approach has grown tiresome.
24 hours (most of the week) and variety of equipment available.
Good community, good coaching, great cardio/skill classes
I enjoy the friendly staff and how clean it always is
It’s expensive for a membership , their water fountain is always down, air/heat barely work, everything is practically falling apart there.
Genesis counted my paid $80 for 45 minutes for personal trainer sessions as group fitness classes. I was entitled to 5 gperks per class for the 1st 16 group fitness classes. There is no time limit on when the 16 classes have to be taken. I contacted numerous people for help, but no one ever answered me as to why. Instead someone posted on my account that I had attended 16 group classes and was no longer eligible for Gperks for group fitness classes. Since when are paid personal trainer classes considered group fitness classes. I also asked for a print out showing which 16 group fitness classes I attended and that was never answered either.
So I cut my personal training from 3 to 4 times a week ($12,000 a year) to once a week ($4,000 a year) and called it even. I like Genesis and will continue my membership, but my goal is to ultimately reduce $ I spend with Genesis to only monthly dues.
Friendly and very helpful!
I was involved in an altercation with another disrespectful gym member at which staff did not do anything about it. Very disappointed and concerning. They did not care for me or my gf’s safety. Looking to cancel our memberships soon.
