JOI understands customer service. I left Mayo because they are all about the money. Our insurance allows us to see a specialist directly for problems. Mayo wants to charge us $1,800 to see a GP (who is lame) so he can make the recommendation to the specialist. Mayo wanted me to wait three months for an appointment with the GP before starting the process of seeing a specialist.
This is my second time leaving Mayo because of poor customer service. The last time I had knee surgery at JOI, I had been trying to get an appointment with Mayo specialist for the previous 60 days. The day after my surgery, the doctor from Mayo called to apologize (not knowing I had surgery) for the delay and offered surgery.
JOI actually treats you like a customer and values my time. They thank me for choosing JOI during every call. I know that sounds corny, and it is a trained-in phrase but to someone who has been getting delayed and delayed at Mayo, it means a lot. The reason it means something is because they back it up.
