Member Testimonials
I feel like family when I come to the Ymca everybody at the front desk knows you and I feel comfortable working out there. I would highly recommend if you’re thinking of a place to go definitely go to Glenwood Ymca.

The coach and refs did a great job
Both Glenwood and Downtown locations make working out a convenience. I am thankful to have the benefit of multiple locations and equipment for my workouts.
I enjoy the friendships I have made while attending the Y 3 times per week for exercise. The Y staff is friendly and helpful. Recently our class, Basic and Brief had some concerns about getting a new instructor. Nancy Jo addressed our concerns and assured our class she was working on replacing our instructor. Nancy Jo came to class and informed us that we will soon have new instructors. Thank you for your time and attention. I am looking forward to continuing to attend the Y.
We are thrilled that Brandy has been such a great influence on our granddaughter. Our granddaughter has immensely improved in her swimming.

Enjoy the classes
Everything. The members and staff are good people. Nice culture and positive environment for social time. Good variety of classes. Class instructors are highly competent and fun. Facility is large enough with plenty of equipment in good working order. Grateful to have learned how to play pickle ball and have plenty of court time daily.
I like the silver sneaker classes. Curtis is an awesome instructor.
The classes are getting pretty crowded
More classes would help
The great lifeguards in the family pool. More importantly, the warmth of the pool enables me to do therapy exercises for my back. I also enjoy the friends I've made at the pool.
However, the floors in the women's locker room are filthy. I also suggest more signage in the locker room about no cell phone usage. It's easy to overlook the ones displayed in the entrance to the locker room. I'd have given the Y a ten except for these 2 issues
Welcoming experience. Great facility.
close to home and options for a good work out
I enjoy/love my Silver Sneakers classes with Curtis. He doesn’t treat us according to our age. He makes us work hard and does give us modifications as needed.
I have been going to the Y for several years and I have met friends there. I usually ride a stationary bike, but many of them need to be replaced. Before Covid I took a class which I really enjoyed.
Work out equipment

I am a new member, so I haven't spent much time at the YMCA to offer feedback.
1) I enjoyed one morning senior class so far and found everyone helpful by setting me up with the equipment being used. The class was fun and challenging. I liked this incentive to rise early and to adjust my sleeping schedule.
2) I had a limited ROM from disuse of my left leg- too much sitting after retiring years ago. By using the plastic steps and risers, I've regained most of my step climbing ability. I also like using the dumbbells in that room and the mirrors to check my form.
3) I like the ARC Trainer and it provides a terrific workout while building endurance. I then generally use a few more arm and leg machines, stretch on the simple but effective Precor bench-like aid, and then walk on a treadmill to cool down or use the upstairs track.
4) I appreciate the hours that the gym is available, although an extra hour or two until closing on Sundays would be nice to have.
5) The Y appears to be clean, and I can see staff working during operating hours.
6) I am excited about having registered for pickleball lessons in early June. They will be conducted at the Eastside Y and I hope to be fit enough to learn and play well soon.
7) I like that classes have been developed to address mental and emotional fitness, too.
8) There is a good variety of physical fitness classes that I plan to try.
9) I think it's great that the Y has youth and other outreach programs. It's never too early or late to become holistically developed and meet new friends.
10) It's great that staff monitor the exercise areas to help with equipment and answer questions. It also makes me feel safe while there.
11) Most of the desk staff are friendly and helpful.
12) It's super that Erie has several YMCA locations. How lucky are we?
13) The website is updated to keep pace with offerings and changes.
14) The locker rooms and showers are nice.
15) I haven't tried the pools, hot tub, or sauna yet, but they're guarded well and very nice to have.
16) Discovering the chapel's openness was unexpectedly nice.
17) Last but not least, I really appreciate that the Erie YMCAs accept and welcome Silver Sneakers. I'll be contributing to the annual campaign.
18) Aren't you glad you asked?
