I love the various water classes especially water Zumba. (Sunima is terrific!) I wish there were some more challenging water aerobics classes though.

My experience with the YMCA spans five decades. My daughter learned to swim at the Y when she was about 5 years old. I have always been active and was a runner for many years. But when I developed arthritic in my back, I could no longer run. I had to find a new form of exercise that I could do without the strain on my back. My solution was swimming. When I retired in 2004, I began swimming laps three days a week. Although the pandemic threw a wrench in my swimming schedule I swam again after the pool opened. Then there was a few months where I could not swim because I fell down and tore a muscle in my shoulder. I tried several of the Y's exercise classes, but none of them worked for me. Thank goodness I am now able to swim again. The bottom line is, because of the many exercise, yoga, balance and classes for seniors, I am aware that the Y has something for anyone, any age. I have been a fan for years. I hope to continue my journey at the YMCA for many years to come.
You need to lower your prices at the capital Ymca. You do not understand marketing and trends. Market a promotional with no sign-up fee and you have to price it five dollars cheaper than 24 hour fitness. Then blitz all the advertising places you can and market something like the first hundred people who sign up there’s no joining fee. then sure charge like a very moderate joining fee like $40 or something for the next hundred people then when you have like 50% of the people signed up that you want to have signed up like whatever your goal numbers are then maybe match the price to 24 hour fitness and only once you have like 70% of the people signed up that you wanna have signed up then start raising the price for new and release, but make sure those other people are grandfathered in for like at least a year if not a couple years I love it that I have a private gym all to myself, but I hate people. I’m a total introvert everyone else in the world wants to go to the trendy gym where everybody else is so you have to get the people to come there. No families will ever come there because it cost seven dollars per visit to park. It is not feasible for a family budget you will only have single people and couples from downtown ever become members. That’s your only target population. You are only committing competing with 24 hour fitness. Make sure you put on your advertising materials that you have a outdoor swimming pool heated to 82 degrees . That’s a huge selling point and I’m sure nobody knows about it.
its a great way to get access to a gym which is open to people of all kinds and meets what i need out of a gym
Please empty and read what is in the suggestion box. I put a suggestion in there two weeks ago. The box was full then and has not been emptied as of last Fri., 9:15am.
Swim class, M,T,Th,F. Joylynn & Caralynn are fabulous instructors and care about the class. Yvonne is very nice, however, she is in the water; can't see her. With the echo factor in the indoor pool, it is hard to understand her. Without seeing or being able to hear, hard to know what to do.
In these classes, there are (specifically) two ladies that talk continuously & block other swimmers when the exercise calls for moving from one end of the pool to the other, or traveling around the pool. They should move to the side/corner or, when traveling around, stay in the middle. I think the instructors know who I am referring to.
The life guards should release & pull the lap lines before and after classes. Most of the time, they look bored and dis-interested. They should have more responsibility; put away the noodles and bells.
Thank you.
Private location, resort-like theme, peaceful outdoor activities, water classes & group fitness.
-Warm water in the pool !
-Clean shower and dressing rooms. Even though they are old.. they are cleaned really well.
-The swim suit spinner machine to get the water out
I've been a member since Cross Courts shut down in March 2020 and YMCA opened up that summer. It's wonderful. Friendly environment, good equipment, (mostly) respectful members (some still don't wipe down equipment), good room temperature, three TVs always working, never crowded, Michael and Janet are excellent, plenty of parking, equipment is clean. Only (occasional) complaint is the wipes. I'm certain that I'm not the only one who thinks the thin, hardly-moist wipes are worthless. I'll use three times more of those during a workout vs. the thicker wipes. Plus, the thinner wipes just don't clean well, so I feel each piece of equipment is "dirty" before even sitting down. Thicker wipes were back in use last week. Thanks for asking. I'm a happy member.
Staff friendliness and attention, multiple classes for members, all around community spirit.
I love the water aerobic classes, the weight rooms, the people you meet along the way, the friendships you make, the pot luck get-togethers, and most importantly the instructors who obviously care about your health and safety. The lockers rooms are clean and the staff always say hello and good bye. It’s a friendly place with a big heart. I tell all my friends about it. Thanks to all of you that make this place and my experience possible.
Warm Regards,
