Terrific staff at this location. They are friendly and helpful whenever called upon. Facilities are kept as clean as possible and repaired when the need arises. It's an older facility so repair and upgrades are needed more often than newer facilities. More amenities than some other branches that add variety for members.
Exceptional customer service
Yoga, Pilates and spin group fitness. Romain, Susan K and Susan H for the challenge and the lessons. Jasmine P in general. I wish she would teach more Pilates. She explains the poses in a more basic way and with different language from the other class leaders that is helpful to me, as I am also learning the practice and looking for more insight to do it well. Sara D has been a lovely substitute for the spin classes; I was so surprised how hard I'd worked when I checked my stats after class!
I tend to be in class with a healthy contingent of retirees and they're pretty awesome and inspirational. The mixed age groups journeying together...great! My middle school son is able to come along after completing his orientation; this benefit is probably one of the best kept secrets of the Y.
Taylor has figured out how to be welcoming to teens using the facilities independently in a way that is different, some how, from other branches. It does set it apart in our minds. SAQ class is also a hidden gem - a Saturday morning option would eliminate school conflicts.
So nice when greeted by the front desk staff!
Staff is friendly and welcoming. Instructors are friendly and motivating.
A few suggestions: Ask the instructors in cycling and aerobics/strength training classes to monitor volume of music, that is, generally turn it down. I often measure 90 decibels between music and instructor shouting into microphone. This can cause hearing damage. I wear earplugs and can still hear what instructor is saying, so no need to shout.
Please have staff reemphasize prohibition of cell phone usage in locker room. The posted signs are routinely ignored in the men’s locker room. I even encounter cell phone use in the sauna. (lso ignored is prohibition of phones on weight machines. Members who repeatedly violate the rule against cell usage in these areas should lose privileges for a period of time.
All the employees are incredible. I just got back from a deployment and was surprised to see how many employees knew my family and how kind thay all are. I haven't met a single person that wasn't super friendly or helpful!
There is no greater activity nor camp for kids that is more fun than camp blazing trails. The kids get to play outside doing adventurous things with people that enjoy being with kids. They enjoy fishing, canoeing, games, archery, bike riding, and so much more. I can’t think of anything better for the Summer!
Great classes and instructors, clean facilities.
We have lived in Kenilworth neighborhood since 1992, when Cary Taylor Y was built. We walk over daily, and our children grew up in Cary Taylor YMCA programs since 1998.
Now they are grown and gone, but we plan to bring our grandchildren to the pool and camps as they grow up.
Wife loves the fitness, yoga and strength classes. I love the weight rooms, and especially the men's steam room and sauna!
PLEASE CONTINUE to maintain both the steam room and sauna, even though they can be maintenance headaches!
The YMCA staff has continued to be WONDERFUL over the years! Recently I have enjoyed going on excursions with the THRIVE group.
We are so lucky to be part of the Cary Taylor YMCA community, thank you!!
Best regards, John Leonard and Laura Heintschel
While I really enjoy working out here, I wish the no-phone-use-on-machines policy would be enforced. It's very frustrating when people sit for 5 minutes between sets reading their phone and tying up a machine.
Taylor Family YMCA day camp is ideal for working families. My 10 year old still loves the camaraderie that comes with the Y songs, ranks, beads, camper of the day, etc. He has been content with the variety of activities indoors and outdoors.
It meant a lot to us that a counselor asked about my 11 year old who has not been to summer day camp in 2 years but used to go a ton…camp offers the opportunity for connection and meaningful relationships.
The friendships and the out door pickleball courts. It would be nice if the outdoor courts remained open til at least 8:30 pm.as it would give members who work til 5 or 6pm time to enjoy. In the past years, the outdoor court lights would cycle on at 8:00 pm and we would play until 8:30 pm. The reduction of the facility hours in the evenings are disappointing to members who aren’t able to work from home or work standard shifts that conclude at 5:30/6pm daily.
great adventure, she loved it and wants to do it again!
People are generally very friendly and helpful. There are a variety of group workouts, which I especially enjoy.
I like the swim water aerobics classes. But I have not been able to get to very many classes. I would love to see more classes offered.
I attend Aqua Fitness classes 4-6 days a week. I appreciate the pool staff including desk and guards. I really enjoy the different instructors and all they do to make the classes beneficial and fun.
The staff and other members.
The people and the group fitness classes
All went well for my first visit to this YMCA. I just came to walk indoors since it was so hot outside. Great facility with kind people
The staff at the desk are extremely helpful and professional, they made me feel welcomed. The classes are excellent and I have enjoyed them all. I still need to explore the rest of the club.
Everything
Everything!
The ENTIRE TEAM is Amazing! I have lost over 30 pounds in 1 year - the YMCA has absolutely made a huge positive impact in my life!
Shout out to Maggie, Rosanna & Delynda!!
Classes and instructors so far are great!
There is a wonderful sense of community. It is a place for all ages, cultures, body types/sizes, etc., and I love coming here. It is my "3rd place"! :-)
Very clean and nice staff
I love the Y! I think they tried with the stretch area but it’s really not big enough. Doing full body extension, like dead bugs are difficult so I usually just wait to do those kinds of exercises at home. The weight area is often full. I wish there was a better variety of weight options or more than just one of something. I do find the dumbbell area great and having a pretty good selection of benches makes it easier to get to work out there. It’s so crowded with kids during the summer so that makes it even harder to complete my workouts.
Most of the instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable. The YMCA does not smell like sweat. I do wish there was more classes scheduled to choose from. It is difficult to get into a class if you do not schedule it immediately. Perhaps there are too many members and not enough classes offered.
This was our first week ever and my daughter is absolutely thrilled and I see her personality coming out more. I think being exposed to friends and nature and creativity has really been an amazing experience for her and absolutely beats being stuck in the house all summer. And when I say things are changing, she went from only wanting to wear wear heavy baggy clothing to now. Finally becoming more herself in her own style and she's looking forward to getting up out of bed. Think this camp was more than we thought it would be and I now want to add more weeks for the summer
My son Chris love the YMCA camp. He has said it's a thumbs up and looks forward to all of the outdoor activities. My daughter Evelyn loves the bead necklaces and talking with all of the counselors. They also enjoy all of the singing.
Friendly people and atmosphere the activities that I can do thank u Name removed

I would prefer lane reservations in the swimming pool. It has become a bit disorganized at the pool.
