The numerous yoga classes that are high quality!
The Y is large, clean, with excellent classes and instructors. The front desk personnel are very nice and welcoming.
Durham Ymca is my favorite place to go in Durham. It's a grea tcomplement to dpac. And restaurants such as Cosmic Cantina.
Everyone is so friendly
Large well-equipped wellness floor. Friendly helpful staff. Great classes. I'm a big fan of Amy Rossi's Barre class and Ellie T.'s Lean and Sculpt.
Good atmosphere, clean and spacious locker room, good gym equipment.
Great facilities. Enjoyed my workout. Would like some more variety in classes offered.
Everything!
Operational hours and great overall environment
Everything
I enjoy the equipment and friendly atmosphere.
The community.
Not overcrowded.
Well functioning steam and sauna rooms.
Location, equipment, staff, music playlist, atmosphere (kids playing pingpong), strength traing classes. Like the downtown Y, the staff & membership is diverse, inclusive, & friendly.
Lakewood's Wednesday kickboxing class with Anthony is the highlight of my week! The front desk staff are always friendly, helpful and kind. I'm glad Lakewood is my home Y! More classes on weekdays between 4-6 would be awesome.
Well, the men's locker room is pretty stinky, but y'all know that. Otherwise, the lakewood Y is just about perfect. I'm sure exercise bands break or disappear, but it always feels like there is a shortage and you have to hunt them down -- would love to see more. I also get annoyed with people camping out on the machines but hey what are you gonna do. Otherwise I think it's great. I love the guys playing ping pong every day -- feels like a real community gathering, and the patrons are 100% awesome.
The staff and many of the members
Clear communication. Great, supportive coaches.
It has a large exercise area and group fitness room. The locker rooms have good showers plus the steam room and dry sauna. I like the friendly atmosphere and quality of the instructors. The facilities can accommodate a wide range of activities and level of activity needed
It has all the equipment I need and is much less crowded than downtown.
I like the small size, the very friendly staff, how I often see familiar faces, and the fact that it's right in my neighborhood!
Classes offered at convenient times and taught by great, skilled, friendly teachers---Ellie Tolle, Brook Harrington, Sam, Jessica, Anthony.
The size is just right--not too big and not too small. The weight lifting area is rarely crowded.
We call it the "Mom's Y" for a reason! The locker room is *luxurious* and the vibes are excellent. The downtown Y is my main spot, but when I need some good steam room / sauna time, I happily make the trek over to Lakewood.
I love the group classes, kind staff members, and clean facilities.
I did have some feedback/questions about the new treadmills though - the old treadmills had preprogrammed nature runs where the elevation increased/decreased automatically. These new ones look like that is what it is supposed to do, but you have to do it manually. If someone knows how to fix this or make it automatic on these new treadmills, I would love to know how to do it! My email is Email address removed if anyone is able to answer this question.
Thank you!
Sorry,
I have done this survey several times and I am asking you not to send this survey to me again. Unless you can give me a very good reason for sending the exact same survey over and over again.
Thank you for your consideration.

The Lakewood Y is conveniently located, so it is easy to get to. They have a great workout area, with treadmills, elliptical machines and weights. It is a bit smaller than some of the other Ys in the area, but it is perfect for a quick workout. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have a very active after school program. The pool and the tennis/pickle ball courts are also great. Highly recommend!
Nice environment, folks get along, I have friends there, has a fair amount of equipment for my needs.
It would be nice to have more weight clips for the barbells and some of the tiles on the ceiling of the women's locker room are damaged.
THE YMCA IN GENERAL HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER FOR MY FAMILY FOR 2 DECADES NOW AND I AM TRULY THANKFUL FOR THIS ORGANIZATION AND THE PEOPLE WHO DONATE. MY SON LOVES HIS AFTERSCHOOL TEACHERS AND I THINK THE YOUTH ESPECIALLY ARE GREAT WITH THE KIDS. VERY HAPPY MOMMA!
The ping pong is great! I would love to see a Tia Chi class.

Decent parking, friendly staff, has what I need (except a hot tub)
