Sauna is awesome. Nice equipment in the gym
It's a great Y. I rarely have complaints.
Today, however, one of the Y workers was taking his break in the men's locker room and watching a program on his personal phone, which was extremely loud. Would not have cared if he'd been wearing earbuds.
If I'm sitting down in the locker room I'm trying to relax. I was unable to due his the loud phone combined with the playing TV.
I love the friendly staff, the childcare, the sauna, and the classes. Very happy we joined the Y!
I go to the Lakewood Y almost daily. It attracts a nice crowd across a variety of ages. Generally, pretty well managed.
It is a welcome environment with many friendly faces. Lots of diversity! Some of my best friends are here. A great group of old geezers and young folks that seem to get along. One of the most welcoming places I have ever been a part of.
So far she is having fun

The staff and the fellow members! They know my name, we have a real sense of community. Working out is a joy when it’s at Lakewood.

Lakewood YMCA has a clean and organized gym, friendly staff, and fantastic childcare.

Convenience, facility, friendly and helpful staff
i like the clean gym, the receptionists and the atmosphere
My kids love this camp! We have done basketball and soccer camps and both are great. They are moving all day (and not at all bored). Great job! Also, the communication has been fantastic.
Friendly staff
nice steam room
Thoughtful counselors
The hours are great and the price is reasonable. I like that they get to swim. I feel like they make an extra effort to keep the kids entertained!
All of the staff are very friendly and inviting! They treated my son like family and I truly value and appreciate that! If you are looking for a summer camp where your child can thrive safely and happily, definitely look to the Y for that!
I give this YMCA a ten. Not only is the Y based on Christian values, but it shows through the great customer service and inclusion. It is the melting pot of gyms offering basically everything. I can’t think of another gym that offers more. Also, I just remembered I was a summer day camp counselor here when I was a rising senior and I’m now 57 newly moved back to the area for my health and now a member, the circle of life. Thank you Y!🙏
The staff and the camp
This place makes me happy. It's fun and welcoming every time
warmth of counselors
The programming is great.
there is still an ongoing practice of sitting at exercise machines and texting for prolonged time. Its not that hard to spot. Have staff politely remind members to get off the machine if they want to text.
Lakewood front desk staff is always friendly and polite. I visit other YMCA's for my water classes, which I enjoyed wholeheartedly.
What I love about Lakewood is the Saunas. You have the best!
They were always really helping my daughter

Pleasant staff, comfortable, bright, clean facilities, equipment in good order, and comfortable locker room. I also like the yoga / exercise classroom here. I have had two wonderfully helpful interactions with staff when 1) my key card was dropped in the parking lot and 2) had to get a new card later because mine was so worn out. In the first instance I reported the loss but had to rush off. Within 45 minutes, the staff member left me a voicemail saying the key card had been returned. Some months later when my card (of 10+ years) was worn out and needed replacement, I asked about that when checking in for a locker and came out to find that a new one had been issued and placed on my keyring, ready to go. Everyone is just thoughtful, kind, efficient.
I had one early instance that was baffling--several months ago. I had signed up for an exercise orientation, arrived early, checked in, waited, and no one came. I spoke to the desk, and the person was somewhere in the building but never arrived. I never knew what happened. I just used the equipment with which I was familiar while I waited, then left. The desk staff apologized profusely. I imagine there might have been some emergency. I have since done mostly classes and the equipment with which I am familiar. I am almost 65, so I take care with the weights and equipment like that. I will revisit the orientation later. I can imagine that some emergency came up. Everyone there has always been excellent, so it is not a huge deal. WAs just a bit baffling.
