They don't put pressure on the kids to do the activities
They are included in membership, so my kids can easily retake levels if they are slow to progress without the pressure to move on and gain skills quickly.
The instructors are kind and so patient. Both of them did a great job at keeping the children focused and on task. This was our first experience with swim lessons and we are eager to sign up for more.
The Gordon 'Y' has been there for me when I needed rehab from surgery and the pandemic. Enjoying the Book Club this year! Thanks!

I'm very pleased with Gordon Family YMCA experience. My 2 year old daughter and I started attending the Y at the beginning of January, just a few months ago. We do attend regualry. With my temporary financial difficulties we were given passes to join the Y for a few months and I'm in the process of getting a full membership for myself. For now, I'll just continue paying for Child Watch for my daughter and later I'll enroll her in classes. While I take care of my own well being through this challenging season in our lives, my daughter can be with other children for maximum 2 hours a day while I workout. That's a win win for both of us.

Great facility and equipment, great variety of gym equipment for all types of workout styles, nice pools, friendly staff, great classes and camps offered for all ages, instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. I love my Gordon Y.

The teacher
My has had some anxiety about being in a particular section of the pool due to a traumatic experience but with the guidance and reassurance from the swim instructors, he isn't afraid anymore. We wish they would keep the same instructor at the same time each session because consistency is key to learning and growing. I also feel my child is extra safe in the water because the number of lifeguards moving around as they monitor the water.
The teachers are so amazing! Always remember my kids names and take such great care of them.

Mrs. Eileen is the best trainer my son has finally gotten over his fear of water thanks to her. I am always in the lookout out to see when she’s training so I can register my son and daughter in her days/times.
The younger trainers are a hit or miss —my son and daughter loves Kat, he is very fun and engaging and some how manages to teach them as well while having fun. (A lot of the other young trainers look stressed out by the little swimmers)
But overall, I feel that is a good learning environment and with consistency they will learn to swim. 10/10 recommend.
Friendly instructors, relate well with kids.
Swim lessons are wonderful for our four year old! She was very nervous to be in the water, but Josh has a welcoming and kind personality that makes the kids feel safe and comfortable in the water. We could not recommend lessons highly enough!
Overall we like the lessons at the Y and that’s the only reason we have the membership. I’d say 70% of the instructors were really good and committed to the job and we just try to stick to the ones we like. The facility is great. I understand there’s a high demand for these classes but the student-instructor ratio right now seems way too high. No other successful swim school has such a high ratio. The learning experience is compromised.
Easily the instructor- Ms. Eileen. Most of the other swim instructors for the young age are inexperienced and not as knowlegeable. Ms Eileen is amazing! They way she makes the songs and games fun yet the kids learn so much. She also explains what the next steps are and how to get them there. My son has advanced so much while under her instruction.
