Member Testimonials
My kids loved Aquazip and "normal zip line". Except that my daughter said she only got one chance to do alpine tower and she was late that day, so she missed it.
They also really enjoyed archery and swimming in the pool! (especially during the heat wave).
The overall structure with groups and fun counselors is just really, really great. We will definitely be returning to Camp Thunderbird!
Tane was great at p/u and d/o - very quick to load and unload two busses of kids in a very timely fashion. And Larry as a bus driver - always on time and very friendly! Very comfortable with him driving my kids up and down 288!
From camper: “I love every activity!” “Counselors are great, activities are great, tons of friends!” “Everyone is nice and I got to do things I haven’t done before!” “The LITs were great and lunch was great” “10/10 would recommend to anyone”
My grandchildren loved camp and all the outdoor activities.
I do want to say the LIT youth were disrespectful used foul language littered and were a terrible example
The grandkids loved it!
I love the variety of activities, swim instruction, and kind responsive staff. Otter has had a great summer so far. Thank you!
This was my son's 2nd time attending this camp and he loved it once again! I especially appreciated the new location for dropoff/pickup at Maybeury Elementary. Last year it was a bit chaotic with the other camps at the Tuckahoe Y.
Loved the ease and friendliness of the check in / check out counselors.
My son LOVED the beaded necklace concept.
We'll be back!!
My grandkids love all of the activities that are provided. They made ice cream yesterday which was something new and my granddaughter couldn't stop talking about it.
Highly organized and structured. Very professional. Great price! And it was the appropriate length of the day - it was long enough for parents to not have to take off to pick up and drop off. Well done.
Organized, friendly camp leaders and well planned activities for the campers.
My daughter has absolutely loved Camp Thunderbird. Every day she is excited to tell me what she did. She even said that she wished she had gone in years past. I would readily recommend it to others.
The staff are very supportive and kind to children with differences.
Variety of activities, great staff, and such a classic summer camp experience. My child loved every day of camp!
My daughter enjoyed the diverse activities, the counselors and the camp site.
I like the communication between the camp and the parents. When my child had an issue they were quick to call and we resolved things together. I like that the camp gave my child a sense of independence and courage. He got to try things he thought he couldn't do. He said last year during zip line he cried the first time and teared up the second time. The third time he came back cheering that he didn't cry.
Zip line, fishing, kayak, canoes
The camp kept my daughter busy and encouraged outdoor activities that she looked forward to every week.
Great, well rounded
I appreciate the diversity of activities-there’s something for every kid, whether they like swimming or archery or art. It’s a low-stakes way for children to explore their interests, and gets them outside and interacting with each other. The counselors are also really great; my son always has one or two he forms a bond with, and it makes me feel good knowing he’s safe.

Engaging all day for active kids
Great variety of activities. Chance to hang out with friends.
Keeps the kids busy and active!
The activities are thoughtful and engaging.
I love how the staff keeps the kids engaged and the camp Director is so actively involved. It’s a very inclusive environment at Camp Thunderbird and areas for opportunities are addressed immediately.
I love that my son gets to be outside and try new things. I appreciate the ability for staff and fellow campers to keep him engaged and safe.
Great staff and so many great activities.
The best part is how much fun our kid has. The activities are so cool for him, things we wouldn’t typically do, like archery. I like that he gets a classic camp experience without the overnight part. The bus makes it so easy to get there.

The children are always engaged in activities
