I have been coming to the Salem Y since I was in middle school, multi , son since high school and now my pre teen daughter. Jimmy is super friendly and Inlike to chat with him most mornings.

Good facilities
Cleanliness, good variety of exercise machines, staff always willing to answer questions and show how to use machines, adequate hours of operation.
It’s has all the above! Gym, pool, basketball court, steam room and sauna after! Very convenient location downtown Salem! Highly a must!

Great classes and equipment. Parking could be better, but love the Y!
The yoga classes and instructor are great and included in membership. The pool is beautiful and there are many hours available for lap swim per week.
The location is perfect, the facilities and offerings are fine...but the best part is the people - staff and members!
All of the training staff are willing to answer any questions and help in any way they can. All of the YMCA staff are professional and always go the extra mile for their members. It's easy to always feel welcome with a team on your side like that!
The staff are friendly and welcoming. The group exercise classes are great. My instructor is very knowledgeable and motivating. I feel I am improving in my fitness. The Salem facilities are also well maintained. The staff makes an effort to update equipment periodically.
The new fitness equipment is a huge upgrade. The gym has a nice, friendly vibe to it as well. Only challenge to ‘easy access’ isn’t in control of the Y and that’s the parking. Hit or miss depending on time of day/day of week. All in all though, a nice, friendly gym.
The improvements are notable . Especially the very functional stretch room . The aerobic machines there don’t get much use . Especially if those rowing machines were wheeled outdoors ,on dry days , I would not be surprised if you found members who now may prefer aerobic outdoor use a plus option, in our new normal times that we are living . There is fenced in room for two at the children’s outdoor play area, ( gate area) at the entrance that would not interfere with those activities, located the opposite the gate. A summer trial may attract some regulars. As a senior I’m not enthusiastic about maskless indoor aerobic activities.

I don't go as often as I'd like but I think the Salem Y is the best
