I like the water aerobic classes, fun instructors!
I do not feel intimidated at the YMCA. Everyone is treated with warmth and I feel very welcome. The classes are great value and fun. The large variety of classes ensures that I never get bored and the number of classes means I can catch another class if I don’t make my usual one.

The variation
Variety of activities and exercise classes.
I love that there are programs for all fitness levels. And, there are also social activities. So, you can reaaly make the Y your favorite place to go for fitness and fin.
Love the low Impact Cardio. Someone should count the number of people there, especially on Wednesday because that class had been crowded.
The programs are fun and keeps me moving
I like the high engaged group exercise instructors! They make an effort to keep the classes fresh. Even more important they make a concerted effort to connect with their participants.
Please, please bring back the Mon/Wed step classes at 4:15pm. There are no longer evening step classes available!!! We were told this would not be a permanent removal from the schedule, only January. It is now February and there are no 4:15pm classes!!!
Generous amount of classes/activities for seniors.
I wish you had Body Balance at night again. I really really love that class and there is nothing that substitutes it. Body Balance has strength, stretching, core, and balance. It's a fun mix of pilates, yoga, and stretching.
The stretch and restore is 80% foam rolling. Not at all a good substitute for Body Balance.
I would like to recognize some wonderful instructors - Nancy (step) is wonderful and Jen (Mixxed Fit) is fantastic.
I wish you had an additional paper roll to dry hands in ladies restroom. The one that is there now is often broken, and then there is no paper to dry hands or wipe up anything.
I am at Monty Ballard. Thanks Y!!
Body balance and sprint and led mills core. It would be nice to add a ballroom dancing class
I like the variety of classes and different schedules.

I have been a member of the Monty Ballard YMCA in Katy for some time now and have generally had a positive experience. The staff here are exceptional; they're not just professional but also genuinely friendly, making every visit welcoming and enjoyable. This warmth and friendliness greatly enhance the overall atmosphere of the facility, and it's one of the reasons I look forward to my visits.
However, I believe there is always room for improvement, and I've noticed a couple of areas that could significantly enhance the experience for myself and other members. Firstly, the layout of the exercise equipment feels a bit cramped. The machines and equipment are placed very close to each other, which can sometimes make the exercise space feel crowded and less comfortable than it could be. Expanding the spacing between equipment, if possible, would improve comfort and ensure a more pleasant workout environment for everyone.
Additionally, while most of the equipment is in good condition, I've observed that some pieces are starting to show their age, with visible signs of wear such as rust. Updating or refurbishing this equipment would not only improve the aesthetics of the exercise area but also ensure the safety and effectiveness of workouts for all members.
In conclusion, while the Monty Ballard YMCA is a fantastic facility with a lot to offer, paying attention to the layout and condition of the exercise equipment could make a big difference in enhancing the member experience. I am optimistic that these improvements can be made to ensure the facility continues to serve as a welcoming and top-quality venue for community fitness and wellness.
