The cleanliness and the people working here are awesome
everything good
I love the Tellepsen Y and go there almost every day. I especially love the pool, the group exercise classes, and the women's gym. Big shout-out to the wonderful lifeguards and group exercise instructors. They're the best! A couple of things I wish could be fixed:
1. The women's sauna. I understand the men's sauna is out of commission, but please please please do not allow men in the women's sauna. Some of the men are extremely sweaty when they come in, and many wear almost nothing. I saw a man there yesterday with only a towel! The men spread their legs and arms out wide, taking up almost a whole bench. They make a lot of women feel very uncomfortable. Last week I saw 3 elderly women wait for nearly an hour to go in the sauna because they didn't want to be in there with nearly naked men.
2. The women's gym. Please extend the hours. On weekdays, I usually go to the Y during my lunch break from 1-2. I'm so disappointed to find the women's gym closed at that time. Can you please keep it open all day? It doesn't require a lot of staff, just one person who usually sits at the desk working on other things.
3. MORE group exercise classes! I know they're hard to staff, but the exercise classes at Tellepsen are so popular, it's hard to find space to work out. I also wish you would enforce the sign-up rule. I often sign up, but find the room is crammed when I get there. I think you need more Body Pump and Yoga classes. Those are always packed.
Thank you for everything!!!!
I like the gym, sauna, pool. I haven't had a chance to take classes yet.
There are many different style of exercise dance classes available, and instructors are enthusiastic and fun.
Clean, well-kept facility!
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
We really like the child watch and the staff are very well trained. We would really like to have the child watch hours to go back to 8AM or 8:30AM instead of the 9:00AM. Other than that, we really enjoy all the amenities.
Want to have more body pump schedules on Thursday and Friday.
I like it's Downtown Houston and that there is a Women's only area.
I can look at TV while I work off the lbs.
I'd like more things for SENIORS to do.
Love all the options and times available
Love the sense of community and welcome news for everyone
Facilities are nice. Machines and weights consistently work.
The instructors are awesome and very helpful and also informative. I love the group classes and all the gym has to offer

Location, equipment, parking(finally).
Start and end on time. Most comfortable in senior classes. Clean facility.
The Tellepsen Y has been our home away from home for the last 6 years. I hae come to love Les Mills workouts and I continue to do them regularly; I have used Child Watch for brief bits of daycare so I could get some work done; and we've really enjoyed our swim lessons there each summer. The Y is such a great and important community resource. You all are the best!
Clean facilities
Friendly staff
You have such a large group of activities!
Very clean facility and free parking. Plus you are open everyday!
I’m afraid of dogs and all creepy-crawling things. The indoor track gives me peace of mind and assurance that I can exercise without fears.
Thank you.
Swimming pool and all the wonderful staff at the Y
Weightlifting center is good. Kept clean and equipment is in good condition. Deadlift mats can be bumpy and cause bars to be uneven. Hours of operation is the biggest downside. Closing early on Friday and weekends is quite inconvenient. Staying open later on the weeknights would be great too. I often don’t get off work until 7:30p, and the YMCA closes before I can get an after-work lift in.

Please do not blast music at the pool! What was supposed to be a relaxing, zen time in the water became an audial irritation. The speaker was way too loud, the sound came out distorted; plus the pool area is an echo chamber, which magnified this cacophony. The music choice was, how should I put it, not to everyone's liking, so please please please do not subject us swimmers to other people's party music preferences. Thank you!
