It was Matt at Cycleshack who repaired my bike and kept me informed throughout the process. The work was completed in good time, but he had prepared me for the possibility of having to wait a few days for parts so I wouldn't be disappointed or frustrated. In fact, I was surprised by how quickly my bike was ready to go.
Matt was very clear and described in simple terms what needed to be fixed or replaced and why and he advised me about other parts which would need attention in the new year. He advised about how frequently to change the chain in order to lengthen the life of the block. He showed us a chain gauge. He had left the bike perfectly lubricated and he reassured me about my bike cleaning quality. In all, a top service. Thank-you Matt.

As a footnote I'll add that when I rode my Raleigh Motus back after the service to repair the rear tire, there was an intermittent power loss. I've tracked this down to the speedometer magnet being dislodged from its correct position. I was easily able to reposition it, of course, but it may be worth watching out for in future.
