I LOVE the YMCA!!!
The nicest people I have ever met work there.
Love the Gentle Yoga class on Saturday with Janet. She is very calming and makes the class awesome. She offers advice throughout the class if you not quite ready for a particular pose-how to make it easier as you work towards getting to the full pose.
Enjoyed the swimming outside in summer and have swam some inside-pool is very clean and seems to have sufficient lifeguards since I bring my grandkids some.
Looking forward to getting on exercise equipment and doing some weight training.
I’m so glad for my Medicare-free membership. I am feeling more healthy with the extra stretching added to my walking routine. I’m also sleeping better.
I like it it’s clean, haven’t been able to start my daughter in swim lessons But I’m liking the equipment and facilities.

love the staff wish they had a water zumba class at night and someone to teach pickle ball.
We love the pool situation! The therapy pool is so nice to swim in with our two young kids, and it stays open for free swim throughout the majority of each day. That pool is the reason we prefer North River to any other Chattanooga-area YMCA location!
We also love the racquetball rooms, playground, and soccer fields. And of course it doesn't hurt that you all are located cattycorner to Sonic for some post-exercise slush treats.
I enjoy the class of water motion. The leader is very attentive and helpful.
I LOVE Jaron and his Monday 6:30pm spin class! He brings so much energy, and it's a great way to start the week. I appreciate that you offer a variety of classes - I do wish some of the times were different, so far I've been able to hit a good variety of spin classes, and they're all fantastic.
Things I'd love to see more of:
- I wish there were more classes in the morning around 7:30 or 8am. Or anything that starts and wraps from 7am-9am. The 6am push is so hard to make. I love to work out, but I struggle with energy in the early am (autoimmune) but still appreciate being able to get one in before 9am + work picks up.
- Likewise on the other end of the day, we'd love another evening option that's post 5:30. It's nice if you get out of work late to still be able to make Jaron's Monday 6:30pm class.
- Any hope of getting the iPad/projector fixed in the spin room + more fans?
Swim lessons
Family friendly, nice facilities, staff is friendly and helpful.
I love the workout classes. The instructors I have met so far are very nice and make new people feel welcome.
Staff is very helpful.
Just signed up. Haven’t started anything yay. I look forward to it, though.

My favorites are the pool and the exercise room.
My only disappointment is that the downtown YMCA has a spa for females but the last I heard we don't have one in Hixson. It would do wonders for my osteoporosis arthritis after exercise. Thanks for asking.
