We miss Coach Fernando so much! He really engaged with the players and went out of his way to talk to the families.
Friendly staff. Great basketball coach. Nice family ambiance.
Excellent staff starting with facility’s CEO. His positive demeanor and professionalism filter down to the entire staff. The equipment is always clean and in excellent working order. Ryan and his staff are responsive to members’ concerns and they are always available to help.
I recommend this facility with no reservation.
Thank you Ryan for the example you set for the entire staff.
The YMCA is a great place to attend both for adults and kids. A lot of activities things to do very welcoming environment.
YMCA-New Tampa Is a really nice place for kids to start practicing a sport. People are nice, facility (court/gym) is also clean and safe.
But I have a few things that I would like to suggest:
1. Players should be drafted with more fairness. Beginners should be distributed between all of the teams, not all in one team. It is not fair for some players that have more experience to carry the team only because the other players have no idea of the game and don’t know how to play it. I understand, everybody has a first time, but I felt that in this season some players were frustrated because most of the other players did not know how to play, and of course were loosing all the games.
2. Coaches are voluntary, and that’s amazing. But member or not, we are all paying. Coaches at least should have a little bit of experience or know the game to “coach”. Practices are not meant for free play, is for kids to learn the skills, rules, plays, etc.
3. Bathrooms!!! Needs to be clean more often, since kids are using it, most of the time is dirty and smells really bad.
This was our 3rd season at YMCA, and even though we liked it, this season was not so great. This feedback is not meant to be rude or petty, is my personal opinion and I hope you can use it for the benefit of the program.
Convenient and lots to choose from classes etc
Our daughter loved to play basketball with Coach Paul for three seasons. She thrived and really grew more confident in her skills. We love the basketball program at the YMCA!
Great spot and wonderful people
My son likes to play volleyball in this place.
NW Y: Large and plenty to do there. It is a good neighborhood facility.
Westchase: Convenient and friendly staff. This location needs a machine for ab work!
Availability of a variety of classes , professional, and courteous staff, great workout equipment.
They do a great job have great equipment great people
My daughter really enjoys it, and for the most part it seems like everyone is very helpful. The only the thing I disliked this past season was the late Saturday games. It made it hard for her us to do things or she had to miss.
We love Coach Rob! My son Dakota has loved all his lessons! Eager to get better and progress!
Staff are very friendly. Cordial upon check-in. Seem to be always willing to help. Equipment is new and maintained in the weight's area. I enjoy to feel of the location and never have significant issues with equipment availability.
Has a wide array of exercise options and classes. It’s conveniently located.
Friendly and clean environment plus great Circuit Silver Sneakers exercise classes.
I have been going to CC for over 12 years now and I love how some of your employees make it feel like a second home
We love the encouraging environment for developmental players. Coach Amanda has been the best!
It’s so cost effective that it makes golf affordable for all. The instructors have been a pleasure to work with
Always have a place to work out and having fun doing it.
Very nice and professional
I love the availability of leagues and seasons throughout the year. 5 in total I believe. One big change I would like to see is incorporate more skills practices, at the expense of games. Having a couple season at least where there are fewer games and more of an emphasis on fundamentals. There are many kids in 9-10, 11-12 and beyond divisions who have played many seasons but still have poor dribbling and shooting form, for example. Since the scoreboard is on for games, the coaches and many parents want to win. This means a dominant player or two will do the bulk of the scoring. The team may get the Win, but the lesser skilled players don't get much out of it. They don't get as many minutes or maybe only 2 or less shot attempts. For a 7 week season, there are more game minute than practice minutes. Players are only playing half the game (the better players more) so their development is slowed further.
Our experience was especially great because of our coach, Grayson Kelly (5-6 summer coed). He was excellent with the kids, and our son is walking away with new skills and someone he enjoyed spending time with
My child had an incredible experience participating in the YMCA basketball league this season. From the very first practice to the final game, it was clear how much thought and effort went into the program. Coach Parag was exceptional- not only was he patient and encouraging, but he also had a great ability to break down the fundamentals in a way the kids could understand. As the season progressed, he gradually introduced more advanced skills, keeping the players challenged and engaged.
It was amazing to see my child’s growth over the course of the seasonand not just in terms of basketball skills, but also in confidence, teamwork, and understanding of the game. Every week, he looked forward to practices and games, and that enthusiasm is a testament to the positive, supportive environment Coach Parag created. We’re so grateful for the experience and can’t wait for the next season!
My daughter has played three seasons so far and has really had a good experience with the coach (same coach all three) and her teams she played with.
