Love Air Fit and Todd Car is the best instructor! We also love Coach Diana, the swim instructor.
Love the work out classes
I really love the aqua fitness classes as well as the Master Swim program. I had a back fusion surgery a little over a year ago and it was a massive surgery. Aqua fitness and Master Swim has really helped me get strength and stamina back. Mary W. and Winn K. and Barbara make the classes fun and challenging. And Muriel C. really does a great job in helping me improve my strokes in swimming. The instructors are all wonderful! I have just taken up Zumba with Christina S. and she is also fantastic and motivational. It's really important to have instructors who are supportive and motivational. This YMCA is certainly that.
Cindy is an excellent leader of programs.
I feel like the Northwest YMCA is much more than a "gym" where we go to workout. There is a sense of COMMUNITY here. Staff and instructors know members by name - we really do 'belong here!' If you want to work out and keep to yourself, you can. If you want to meet other members and engage in conversation, you can. Our YMCA has synergy! It seems there is always an activity in progress, or interactions amongst members and/or staff. Not only is this environment good for our physical health, it's a boost for our mental well-being!
Our instructors are the BEST!! Admittedly, I have not attended classes with each and every instructor, but I'm at the Y 5 days a week for classes so I've met many of them and they are fantastic. The classes are well orchestrated, great music and always a thorough workout!
I like how this Y offers the most classes in the tri-county area
I love the Zumba classes. I love the flexibility it gives to working individuals and that we can bring our children while we work out.
The hours are good for me. The facilities are clean and up to date and the people are very friendly and helpful
There are a variety of classes and program to choose to participate in.
I like the variety of programs for kids, and the different options for activities offered.
Variety
I mainly use the pool but the facility itself is run well and there are machines and classes for everyone.
Great workout and variety.
I like the variety of programs that promote flexibility, strength and cardio, along with the quality of instruction in the group fitness classes. There are also many other options for self guided workouts.
Group exercise classes
I love the options for all the group activities. I do work full time and I wish the Zone was staffed so I could attend evening classes after work. The Zumba classes offered evenings start at 7:15 and end at 8 but the zone closes at 7:30. It would be really awesome if we could extend the hours for childcare to cover the times the classes are offered, for single parents that work full time.
I like the flexible schedule of the classes.
swim, volleyball and aerobics.
Child care is organized and friendly and my kids love it.
I like the "coach approach" aspect of the programs and really enjoy the water aerobics classes. Each of the teachers brings a little different aspect to the classes, so they're all great. I wish you had a few more, since the classes have been difficult to get into at times--I would say there are a good many "goats" (definitely greatest of all times), or folks of a certain age that these classes meet a need for. From what I've noticed in the past year, the Y serves as a community center of sorts for all ages. I noticed tables of folks sitting down hear the weight area just talking, playing cards, reading with kids--I think it's wonderful. Since my knees are both wonky, I haven't really tried some of the other classes, but I did get set up do a round of the various equipment downstairs, what I am able to do.
All classes have great enthusiastic instructors
The flexibility and community involvement. I have made friends and recognize many other patrons that are members there by other organizations in the area. My workouts are mine and what I choose without judgement and or pressure to complete.
My kids have benefited and now I drag my husband into the gym. The YMCA is a great fit for my family.
I joined the Y when it first opened and it has been a great experience. I have taken classes, played in a volleyball league, played basketball and used weight lifting and aerobic equipment. The equipment is modern and well maintained, locker rooms and restrooms clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The Northwest Y has been a big part of my family's life.
Enjoy the YMCA but the whirlpool needs better cleaning and the entrance driveway urgently needs a yellow center line with little bump pads.
Love the early morning (7 am and 8am ) classes and the variety that is offered. Instructors are top notch. They plan classes , take time to correctly show moves and make corrections if needed to avoid injury. They deserve a raise! I’d hate to lose any of them
The atmosphere & the many activities offered are wonderful. We always feel better, both physically & mentally after we workout there.
They have many activities for the whole family of all ages.
