Excellent classes--Elizabeth yogalates
Body pump and yoga
Everything! The Y is like a second home to me. I always feel comfortable in the space, and love seeing my friends there.
CX, RPM and Bodypump!
The facility provides everything I'm looking for, and it's reasonably priced. Location is great also considering I live downtown.
I love the diversity of staff, the friendly hours for retired folks, your community outreach, excellent yoga teachers (from my experience), relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Qi gong , available to access an exercise machine.
The cleanliness of pool but not always the hot tub
My husband and I love the Body Pump classes. The instructors are all great. They are very professional and knowledgable about the exercises. I like that the classes have a mix of old and young, big and small. We never feel self conscious.
A very welcoming place. Love the camaraderie. The trainers are professional and knowledgeable.
Spin class, elliptical, weight room, really nice facilities!
It's the cleanest YMCA and clearly gets the bulk of funding in Austin. The space is bright and airy so it's more delightful to work out there. I no longer attend programs because they don't fit my schedule and it's hard to figure out the schedule (the computer in the lobby is not user friendly).
Shane Traughber is a great nutritionist! His plans aren't about - or just about - losing weight. His first concern is the quality of your sleep. Nutrition comes next and plays a big part in the quality of your sleep. He's also flexible. He provides a plan and alternatives and wants to know what works and what doesn't. We meet about every two weeks for an hour, and he's very enjoyable to talk to especially his work with professional cyclists.
The Programs I use fit within my time frames. Classes start and end on time. The instruction is excellent and the routines are ever changing.
Variety of programs. Friendly staff.
The sense of community. The childcare. The affordability for families
Cardio equipment
I love how accessable the Y is! Love that I can work out and have child care, that my kids can do sports and activities and that we can swim during winter break!!
Keep up the good work!!!
Only thing i'd recommend is getting some class details worked out a little sooner than how they currently are.

I bought Everlast MMA Heavy Bag Gloves and hit the downtown YMCA. The distance, in boxing, refers to the full number of rounds in a match. It is frequently used in the expression "going the distance," which means fighting a full bout without being knocked out. In title fights, this is called "the championship distance," which once was 15 rounds but today usually means 12 rounds.
The timing of boxing involved 15 three-minute rounds with 14 one-minute intervals between each round, the preamble, and post-fight interviews—requiring around 70–75 minutes; in contrast, a 12-round bout lasts 47 minutes, which fits neatly into a one-hour time slot when pre- and post-fight programming.
Although many perceive Boxing to be quite a brutal and dangerous sport medical evidence has shown that compared to other contact sports boxing is relatively safe. Indeed in 1996 the National Safety Council accident report ranked amateur boxing 23rd on its list of injury-producing sports and rated it the safest of all contact sports behind football, gymnastics and in-line skating.
As with all contact sports there are risks of injury with some more common than others depending on the type of sport. With boxing the focus is fist fighting wearing boxing gloves where blows are focused at the upper body and head. Naturally, this can lead to injury but rarely is there severe lasting damage. Along with bruising to the face, hands and ribs, the most common boxing injuries are Boxers Fractures, Carpal Bossing, Cuts (Lacerations), Shoulder Dislocation and Concussion.
I like the wide availability of programs and activities. There's something for everyone and the schedules are pretty goo too, that most activities have a class during the day and also outside working hours (8-5). I love the fact that I can for a run to Town Lake, get back to the Y, do yoga, get into the hot tub and sauna afterwards.
Awesome
