Convenience and cost.
The activities planned are well thought out and the variety is excellent. The counselors are great at communicating with parents and always let you know what is going on each day and if anything is needed. My child loves day camp and has made lots of new friends. The team organization by age group is helpful for kids to get to know one another. Great field trips too!
I live how the kids engage in activities onsite and offsite of the camp. The only thing that i would suggest is that lunch is provided with the amount of tuition that parents pay other than morning and evening snacks.
I greatly appreciate the hours of operation. I also appreciate the variety of activities and that there are fun field trips weekly, as well as weekly swim days, so my child gets to feel like he’s having a fun summer. It helps tremendously if he looks forward to going to camp vs. feeling like he’s going to daycare.
We have been coming to the YMCA Summer Camp for the last 3 summers and have been very impressed w/ the growth that has happened in the program. It's such a relief to know that my son is in good hands & experiencing a very enriching summer program.

I love the structure they have plus the field trips! Everyone has been wonderful. They are organized and that can be a challenge with so many kids.
Activities, fair pricing
So far we have afternoon ycare since we are still in summer school but they keep the kids busy and i feel like they treat them with the respect but also teach the kids they have to be respectful.
No matter how many kids are there they make your kid feel important and they actually care for them and are hands on.
My son has fun most days at y camp. If it’s a bad day, the counselors have notified us parents of any issues. I feel my son is safe and well taken care of during camp.

The employees have been absolutely amazing. I appreciate the early drop off time and the consistent activities so my kid doesn’t get bored on repeat.
The activities
The staff is friendly and approachable and you can tell they truly enjoy being with the kids. There’s a wide variety of activities and field trips and my son comes home every day excited to tell me about what he did. All in all, a great way for him to spend the day while I’m at work!
Really like the field trips and activities without screen time
We LOVE Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Melanie. They are sweet, kind, and personable, and they are always there to greet my child in the mornings, which is very important to me. They do an incredible job keeping that place running, and I am always aware if there is an issue with Aria. I love the activities they do, and I know Aria is safe and cared for.
Excellent program. Teachers are engaged, great at communicating and program is well organized. My son looks forward to attending everyday!

The staff at Highlands is wonderful. Everyone is super caring and wants the best for my child. Initially our daughter was sad and upset that she had to go to camp but the staff has been so welcoming she now looks forward to camp days. Also the programming/fields are great. Creative and new experiences that our family plans on re-visiting during the school year. Thanks!
The YMCA Shawnee Mission summer day camp has been a fantastic experience. The staff is exceptionally wonderful—organized, communicative, and clearly passionate about what they do. I appreciate the regular reminders before field trips and the strong teamwork and leadership shown during outings. My 6-year-old daughter is well cared for and truly enjoying all the activities offered. I couldn’t be happier with the experience!
I like that every week there are fun activities and fieldtrips for my children to participate in. They are excited and look forward to attending every week.
