A dad's perspective: School of rock offers a unique opportunity to my son to go beyond solo lessons and jamming at home by himself. Rather, he joined a band, learned how to play in a band and learned how to play in front of an audience. And the music he learned is actually cool and challenging. Another plus, the staff are cool and run the business for music, the students and not for the parents. There is a sense of community and independence for my son at School of Rock and it also is a place where it draws like-minded kids together outside of normal, routine school. My son has a whole different set of friends outside of school now. Our middle school dropped the ball on music and School of Rock not only picked up the ball and ran with it, but slam dunked it. Way to go School of Rock!

School of Rock programs are student-centered to the core. Instructors, all phenomenal musicians, bring their joy into the rehearsal rooms, and meet each student where they are technically, motivationally, and everywhere in between. In the lobby, I overheard a Rock 101 rockstar describing their very first time on stage: "I felt a little bit nervous, but I had so much fun!"
School of Rock is about so much more than learning how to play an instrument. Students develop interpersonal skills, build friendships, and learn how it feels to be an important part of a team.
And last but not least, if your primary interest is in development of musical skills, you're in the right place. Instructors are talented musicians, and many are multi-instrumentalists, who guide students through well-balanced technique/theory lessons with approaches personalized to each students' skill and comfort levels.

School of Rock Mckinney has been amazing for my son. Not only have we watched him learn and grow as a musician through their program, but he has made great friends that share the same interests as him. Every week he is excited to go to practice and be a part of what is going on there and we look forward to watching them perform regularly because they are so good at what they do! The instructors put so much effort and time into teaching the students every week. I'd encourage anyone to put their son/daughter into School of Rock.

The teachers are phenomenal. Vanessa and Tory have created an incredibly wonderful developmental program and an incredible community of young musicians.

Everyone at the School of Rock are so positive, encouraging, and supportive. They really go out of their way to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and supportive to all of their students. My son loves it there.

My teen daughter enrolled in January of this year and she absolutely loves it. She had no experience with an instrument or any musical training so we were hesitant but the instructors are amazing. She started with the electric guitar then decided to move to the bass guitar. Her guitar instructor, Shawn, has been been amazing and she thoroughly enjoys her lessons. In March we also decided to sign her up for vocal lessons. Tracey is an awesome vocal instructor and my daughter really enjoys her lessons. Now that she has started practicing with the band she can see all the hard work coming together. It’s great to see the teamwork and enthusiasm of the band. The owner Steve and the staff Matt and Lillian are incredible helpful and highly vested in the overall success of the students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you sign up for a free trial.

The teachers are very good with the kids my daughters teacher knows how to work with her very well and has been able to teach her things with her voice she couldn’t do before they are very flexible with our schedule. They offer so many opportunities for the kids.
The school of rock is well organized, thoughtfully run, and the instructors have so much enthusiasm to share with the students. It is a welcoming environment where kids can be themselves and also grow and be challenged.
