Locker room needs updating
I love this place!
The variety of people, activities, pickleball, steam room, outdoor pool, bar, diverse age groups, and classes.
Well, in the pandemic… I think your staff could wear masks. It would send a positive message for wearing a mask when away from a piece of workout equipment.
I like the trainers.
Clean and friendly
The women's locker room is dirty a lot of the time. Slick ice spots in front of the entrance door. The area around the base of the pool windows is dirty. It is not worth the money people pay.
It seems as if you could inexpensively replace shower controls, and fix the suitmate so it works all the time. P

Why do you continue to send me these stupid surveys when you don’t do anything about it?! Management doesn’t seem motivated to not only get equipment fixed in a timely manner. But I can’t remember the last time he’s came outside his office and talk to members to see what we need.. but they just keep pumping more people in the gym. News flash. How about worrying about fixing things and try to keep the people in the gym rather than bringing more in? Kinda seems common sense. But then again seems what’s lacking here. BUT since you’re asking the 45 LB weights are practically destroyed, squat exercise machine works for a month then down for five. Assisted pull-up machine took 5 months to fix. I know you have a storage facility in Kansas City full of equipment. Either your management or owner is lazy or both. You’re lucky to be in a small town with no gym. And if it wasn’t for the WONDERFUL tennis staff I’d rid this place like a horrible one night stand.
The gym at Aksarben village is great. well staffed and in great shape. The one at Cass could use some help. Enforcing rules about the dress code. I see way too many people walking around the gym with no shirt and/or sagging drawers. When my girlfriend and I come to work out its embarrassing to see the sweaty, stinky guys just walking around. The water fountain upstairs has been broken for almost a year, lights are out pretty often. Its the little things that I notice but they are also the things that make me want to return. I prefer the Aksarben gym although its out of the way form my daily travel.
In the end its just a bog gym that doesn't really do much to stick out form the crowd. We have been talking about cancelling to go to another gym that suits our needs.
The women’s and men’s locker rooms are in need of being updated. The lockers are so old and rusty. Only a small skinny bench for over 20 lockers is just not acceptable. We rarely use this facility for this reason.
However we really like the staff especially Marcus.
We hate TV channels that are always on. The free motion equipment is kind of rickety and is heavily used. A lot of random times pool isn't available. Where is schedule?
No lockers on main area so don't have to go down to locker room just to hang a coat if you're not changing clothes or just want to put your car keys somewhere while you workout.
Now that weather is changing the machines and mats need stepped up cleaning. I did planks on mats and my hands were filthy.
The hot tub is finally fixed, another early morning spin call has been added and the music mix has finally been changed. Fix the pavement in the parking lot and I'll give it a 10.
The people are great and it's a welcoming atmosphere.
Showers weren’t clean as usual, I understand some users aren’t the best mannered and practice clean habits but has to be someone cleaning constantly.
Needs good cleaning.
Lengthen the hours of operation, update the cardio equipment, better utilize the spaces you have.
Nice people at the desk and have made many new friends here. Love the pool and the various workout areas.

Something for everyone no matter how you like to workout
There seems to be little to no maintenance being performed on weight equipment, cardio equipment, and basketball courts. I read that Genesis is planning to spend over $10 million on a new health club on the south side of Des Moines but meanwhile your club on Hickman seems to getting more and more run down by the day. Additionally, since Genesis acquired Aspen, the upkeep around the exterior has fallen off with exterior maintenance seeming to match that if the interior.
Lastly, please wise up with your basketballs- have a member scan their membership card in order to get a basketball. Anytime you purchase new basketballs they seem to get stolen within a few days. It would also be nice if someone swept or gave any effort to keep the basketball courts relatively clean.
The club is a wreck. The remodel seems to be stalled. The members keep getting promises promises promises but nothing seems to every be done about it.
So many of the weight machines are broken or look like they've been there for 50 years.
The air conditioning system is still not fixed in the tennis court area. I have been complaining about this for over two years and it just seems to fall on deaf ears. The new unit has been sitting outside for well over a year but the duct work has not been hooked up to the building. You can actually see daylight through the cold air return and the cold air rushes in that opening. I pay a lot of extra money to your club to play tennis inside during the summer but you're not keeping up your end of the deal by keeping the area cool.
Prices keep going up and up and the facility keeps getting worse and worse.
On a good note, the tennis staff is excellent. If they weren't there, I would seriously rethink my membership at your club.
Love the classes! They motivate me to work harder.
Sauna always broken. I have been to other genesis clubs. Seems like you do not care about this one.
Please fix the skewed tv screens. Fox News has been skewed since the pandemic and it seems intentional.
Stay open later on weekends.
Do simple maintenance better. It bothers me when a locker is broken because someone didn’t tighten or replace a screw.
Fix the wood in the sauna. That is a joke
I really like this club. Been a member there since before it opened as Healthridge. But disappointing to know what it was and how things have slid in quality. I have been going to the one on 135th more even though Ridgeview is closer
People are friendly and the classes are so much fun
