Lots of varied classes and times that fit my work schedule.
80% teacher, 20% on the setting of the studio.
The washroom, that is a problem having it in the studio
Frequency and quality of classes
I usually go to Sea studio because I find Sun studio stuffy and dark. I need more ventilation. However, I forgot my sweater and the staff had it for me. Staff is friendly and efficient, teachers are good- just the space.
Lovely community. Great selection of classes.
Most people really like the city studio, i don't like it much, because of it black floor, and the material.
I find there is too much "workshopping" of classes. I want to do yoga and flow and get into breath and body and not be forced to drag my mat to the wall for 75 minutes and do headstands. I find it prevents me from experiencing the inner part of yoga which is the reason I do it now.
That was my first semperviva class. I went with a friend while visiting in van. - briefly checked out the teachers bio. Honestly, I really didn't find her teaching engaging whatsoever. I come from a background of manual therapy work and advanced anatomy studies as a registered massage therapist, therapeutic excercise and teaching yoga, if her bio was correct and it said she has taught for 20 years I don't want to seem so harsh but I don't believe teaching yoga is her calling. From a safety perspective there were no alignment ques, no connection of poses "and now we are in downward dog- and now step right foot and left foot", her French Canadian language barrier was difficult to work with and perhaps if she taught in French to other French speakers the dialect wouldn't be lost in translation. I never wrote reviews but because o felt the class was entirely unsafe, had no flow or connection I chose to write. If I had paid o would have asked for my money back, or left if I hadn't been with a friend but she (not coming from any anatomy background) brought it to my attention how "terrible" she thought the class was - the class wa free for both of us so thank you semperviva! and I think it is fair to express concern on behalf of the students that come to practise yoga and require safe alignment and flow awareness. We went right from a relatively fast flow with disconnected breath ques to some lunges, wide forward folds, standing and then a few seated forward bends, bridge and to savasana. Thanks for reading this I don't mean to harm this women's teachings but I believe there may be some humbling enlightenment and reeducation required here. 10:30 Hatha on Monday morning. If she was a new practising sub I understand and wish her well on her journey but if she has been teaching for this long and is the teacher on the bio ( missed her name st the start of class and picture on bio doesn't show her face, also some feedback as how can students know the teachers face if there is only a yoga pose and one that doesn't clearly define the face?)
Happy holidays :) thanks! Bedutiful location for the studio. I have had friends study with semperviva and only heard good things so I was entirely surprised by my first class there!
Classes are so large that it is difficult to hear the instructor and there are too many students for most to receive personal attention
The change room floor is wet from boots, probably best to have all foot wear removed in another room
Friendly staff, & welcoming atmosphere. Great selection of things in the shop!
More classes w more variety
Friendly and efficient
The vibe and customer service; quality of teaching
Friendly, good instructors, lots of locations
I love the sun centre for its quaint charm. It's my favorite place. The reception is always friendly and helpful. I love Dianne's classes. I always recommend semperviva to friends and co-workers. Don't change. Cheers
More efforts could be made to keep the area just outside the studio (lobby/reception/etc) a little quieter. On this last visit, I could hear a lot of commotion at the front desk from the studio.
Great location, great teachers and staff. Super good environment. Love the tea offered it feels like a treat.
the studio close to Trafalgar feels a little bit crowded and dark, bring something beauty to it, like candles or something maybe that works with that space
Your average participant is younger and in better shape than my group.. more variations keeping this in mind may be helpful.
Continuity, a good range of times and different instructors
Location, flexible class options and frequent pass deals.
The room in the kits studio seems to be very hot even in Winter. I was not sure if it is possible to heat that room a bit less.
I love the teachers and the Power Flow Yoga classes.
Thanks!
Your staff were very friendly and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed the sample class I attended and I'm very interested in pursuing it but I think the local full time schedule suits my family best as I live in Tsawwassen and I'm a single parent, so I'll need to wait until August 2017.
Several time choices
Great teachers
Friendly staff
highly professional and well-prepared instructors; flexible scheduling (several options to choose from); mats already available; staff at front desk always smiling and ready to answer any question.
One thing I would suggest: offer training sessions to help customers like me learn more about working on both balance (or on all the various, more complex positions such as crow, etc.) and flexibility.
THANKS!
I so appreciate that everyone at Semperviva has a mandate to say "Yes". In the busy city we live in I totally appreciate a business that is so helpful, understanding and kind.
The room is pretty crowded, I think I'd try to remove about 1/3 of the mats so people can spread out a bit.
The instructor ( Wesley ) was great but hard to understand what he was saying, a headset perhaps ?
Variety and quality of classes, teachers, locations.
Inspiration such as 40 day challenge!
Hot tea after class is nice too!
Very good teacher!
