My son absolutely loved Metal Camp!! I think it would be great if more camps like this were offered. It seemed to be a great success, based off of the live performance. I know you offer other camps, such as pop music camp, but other non-mainstream choices would be great, in my opinion. Everyone is playing Taylor Swift and Green Day, the kids who love Judas Priest and Dio also need more chances to play.

Our son has grown a lot in a short amount of time with SoR Oceanside. We are thrilled with his progress and his interest in music. We appreciate the leadership of Matt and Nikki and the teaching of all the instructors.
My son loves School of Rock! As a child who grew up in a musical home and taught himself how to play his instruments by ear, he really appreciates the less formal approach to lessons here. Jesse is his drum instructor and he enjoys lessons with him tremendously! He’s got a laid back attitude and is very encouraging. My son has learned and improved so much already only after a few lessons with him. I appreciate that after my son’s 30 minute lessons, he is allowed to use any unused practice room with drums for an additional 30 minutes to independently practice what he’s learned in his lessons. The full band practices is what my son enjoys the most, not just for the social aspect but it’s exposing him to more music styles and teaching him how to work as a team, improvise, and adjust based on what the band needs as a whole. It’s very cool that they hold actual performances so friends and family can cheer the kids on and students can learn stage presence.
My child looks forward to jamming out every week and feels part of an awesome community! He’s so happy and encouraged at School of Rock.

We love that the kids have the opportunity to participate in a rock band. It's one thing to learn an instrument. It's another to be able to practice timing and meshing with other instruments and vocals. That's what makes School of Rock special and unique.
Its fun for our daughter, she loves the Rock 101 class. Your staff is amazing also. They are ready and willing to assist, they are courteous and kind and above all they ROCK! Thank you.
I love that not only do you offer lessons but also performances to tie it all together! It can get a little pricey but it’s worth it.

My son enjoyed the Rock 101 camp he attended this past summer. He liked practicing playing drums and learning songs with his band members (other kids assigned to his band).
School of Rock programs are student-centered to the core. Instructors, all phenomenal musicians, bring their joy into the rehearsal rooms, and meet each student where they are technically, motivationally, and everywhere in between. In the lobby, I overheard a Rock 101 rockstar describing their very first time on stage: "I felt a little bit nervous, but I had so much fun!"
School of Rock is about so much more than learning how to play an instrument. Students develop interpersonal skills, build friendships, and learn how it feels to be an important part of a team.
And last but not least, if your primary interest is in development of musical skills, you're in the right place. Instructors are talented musicians, and many are multi-instrumentalists, who guide students through well-balanced technique/theory lessons with approaches personalized to each students' skill and comfort levels.

So impressed with what the kids did in only a week! My son loved it and learned a lot. The show at Beat Kitchen was wonderful, too.
The only reason I'm not able to give it a full 10 stars is because of the more limited hours! If school of rock could offer before and/or aftercare hours (at least 8am to 5pm) to accommodate working parents, I would definitely give it a 10!
School of Rock in Katy is so refreshingly open and inviting of all students of different learning abilities and personalities. They will work with you and your student to find the best fit and help your student flourish. Our rockstar has built her courage up from playing the drums because she ‘didn’t want to be seen up front on the stage’ to taking vocal lessons so she can feel confident trying out for her school’s talent show next year. The instructors are also constant learners. I was honored to receive the request to talk to the instructors about how to better teach and interact with students on the autism spectrum this year. They had so many questions and were very receptive to my advice and input. We love, love, love everything about School of Rock.
It's amazing you get to be in the band program with new friends you make the instructors are amazing everything about it is amazing the best rock school program ever.
My son has been learning drums for few years. Coming to School of Rock is his most favorite thing to do. Alex and the other instructors are excellent. And all the staff are super helpful. Highly recommend this program to all!
Performance band has helped out son grow tremendously. We love the different choices of bands each season. The concerts have been really great as well.
The camp was not too big. Everyone played each song. Learned 6 songs in one week. Very organized. My son loved the camp. We have been to School of Rock camp for 5 years this year was the best!
My son loved the songwriting camp! He was nervous going into it but the counselors did a great job of breaking down the songwriting process. I was so impressed with all the kids' songs that the performed at the end of the week!
Staff and instructors are positive and kind. They nurture my children's emotional, social, and musical development. Our family feels safe to be ourselves here. We LOVE SOR!
