LOVE THE CENTRE!.. BEAUTIFUL FACILITY, VERY FRIENDLY STAFF..I ENJOY MY AQUACISE CLASS. MY DAUGHTER LOVES THE SWIM CLASS WITH HER BABY..TERRIFIC FRESH FOOD AT THE CAFE.. ITS HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE SO FAR, I LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT WINTER THERE
I ALSO HAVE A CANCER DIAGNOSIS AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO JOINING THE EXERCISE GROUP AS SOON AS I CAN
There is a good variety of exercise areas and equipment to use.
A lot- great facilities with helpful staff, plenty of shower facilities etc.
best gym in town - staff, top to botton, if friendly and always helpful
Classes and most of the instructors
The amount of different equipment.
Good equipment. machines always available, clean and well kept up
All of the employees are so friendly and always eager to assist
Cleanliness of facilities, friendliness and knowledge of staff, ability to work out when it isn't crowded (late evenings).
The swimming pool; when will it re-open?
Fees - Well, when we first joined, within a month the Kids zone fee had gone up, and then the overall fee went up. I know this is a tough spot when you really do need to raise rates, but that kind of stunk. It's not like labor and equipment upkeep get cheaper though, so we totally get it.
Shampoo and conditioner - they leave the scalp extremely dry.
Antibacterial - Would love to see this a little more in open places now that flu season has begun.
Sky Midtown complaint - I know this survey is about South, but I HAVE to get this in...it seems like there's some sort of program for young adults to get in at a reduced rate or something, whether through training or...idk, but I have heard of something like this. I have to agree with commenters on sites like Google though, it creates a giant cluster in Midtown, which is already smaller. It's absurd when you come in at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday or something and every single bench and free-weight bench is taken up by forty-five 19-year-olds. There's been so many that I walked upstairs, looked around at how everything was taken, then just got dressed and left. It's also weird, because there's no possible way they all just coincidentally decided to come in and work out somehow at the same time. Kind of frustrating.
Putting weights back - Contrary to what my small frame would indicate, I've been in weight rooms since I was 12, and learned the general etiquette very quickly (scary coaches are persuasive). The bulk of the clientele in gyms, and this isn't just Sky South, either have no earthly idea, do not care, or both. It's absurd when people abandon, for example, a bench press and leave two 45 lb weights, a couple 25 lb weights, 10's, etc. So you a) are not sure whether someone is on it or not and b) once you decide you need to use it and will go ahead and do it, you waste time and energy unloading and doing someone else's work. Half the people in the gym seem very apprehensive walking up to stuff because it looks like Hulk Hogan might be using it and just went to get some water, when in reality it was used like two hours prior. Who in the world knows how to tackle this (I guess you can't make them do sprints like coaches could...), because you see everyone from the ginormous gym rats and regular Joe's doing it, but oh my god is it frustrating.
Shakes - Ok, I might be addicted to your shakes. I'm not ashamed. There was a rough patch when one blonde lady worked at the shake bar and you could taste individual ingredients, from the milk to the gritty sandiness of the whey. Yuck. Not sure she works there anymore, I have not seen her. They're relatively consistent as of now, and the lady who 'mans' the station around mid-day at Sky South might just be the best shake-maker ever! ...I have noticed that those who appear like they actually drink the protein-heavy shakes put more thought into them, if that makes sense.
Mats in the men's locker room - Geez, how to even approach this. I'm sure you don't have them because they can get really nasty really fast, but man, the tile outside the showers can get so slippery. I'm reminded of when an old timer passed out (he stayed in the sauna too long), and I happened to be right there to alert someone to get management/an ambulance. Everyone who had passed through just assumed he slipped b/c of their own experiences, which kind of tells you something!
Sorry if this is like a novel. I absolutely love Sky South and drive the extra few miles to work out specifically at your location, so my comments have a "Thoughts on how to make it even better!" angle as opposed to "Here's where I get to gripe" one. Whatever you do, stay awesome! Thanks!!!
Very professional and friendly!
Machines and weights are easy to use and you have a variety to choose from. Amenities in locker room, such as lotion, q-tips, and hair products, are great when I often forget those items.
convenient, clean, good equipment.
Although, the ellipticals need some adjustments--some are really off balance.
friendly place to work out
The new functional training space is great at the Blue Mtn location. And the yoga space is really nice. Unfortunately that just makes the downtown location's issues stick out more.
You gym is clean and equipment is up to date.
personal service great variety clean well maintained....

Clean, continuous upgrades and friendly staff.

I like the group fitness classes. I wish there were more classes available at 5:30pm or 6:30pm Downtown.
Clean and accessible locker rooms, great atmosphere and friendly staff!
people are respectful of others..they rack their weights and wipe down the equipment.
The group classes. Although, it is beginning to be very crowded
