Jamie, the bartender was great. Food was fabulous too. Parking is a bit of a pain though.
I love Fifth Group. Period. Never let down. Always the BEST experience.
Good food and great service!
South City Kitchen is the place we go to have Southern dishes in a vibrant atmosphere. The food is great and the service is excellent. All of our family and friends who visit Atlanta get to come here as their introduction to Southern cuisine. We especially enjoy the wonderful staff (Thanks, Katie!)
The atmosphere is wonderful, great staff, and fast service. The only negative thing I can think of is that the Maryland Crab Cakes, being from Washington, D.C., are not up to snuff.
We had a party of 20 when I last visited and the wait staff did a wonderful job at servering our food and help with the split ticket. Excellent service and delicious food. Thank you.
I like the Southern inspired menu. The food is always good, the wait staff understands service, and it is just classy enough without being stuffy.
I like the friendly staff and the good menu selection. I am not really a fan of southern food but there is something for everyone.
Great food and service....
The food was tasty and atmosphere was perfect for an early evening meal in Midtown (not too formal). Parking was available in front of restaurant.
The food is great! And the service is too.
The food was incredible. We had the fried green tomatoes, the fried chicken, the filet mignon, and the pork chop and were all both happy with our meal and jealous at each others'. The peach Manhattan was awesome (this coming from two Manhattan drinkers). Katy, who was fun, knowledgeable, and all around terrific, recommended the Elk Cove Pinot Gris which I loved and plan on buying some for home.
All around the best experience we could have asked for. Thanks!

Great time for the $
Food, of course; Service; wait staff is very friendly. The only thing i don't like is the noise level -- so i like to eat on the 'patio' when it's available.
Friendly service, delicious food
Food is very good and service is usually very good
great location, great food, and great service! And not to forget the "chicken livers!"
The food is good, staff is very nice.
Consistent quality, convenient location.
The vibe and the food.
All around great....
non traditional southern menu selections. unique experience
Service was outstanding and food was very, very good. We've heard many good things about South City and finally decided to try it for ourselves; we were not disappointed and look forward to coming back!
Everything ! I always have a great meal and service ! Thanks!
The food was amazing and the service was great!! Loved it!!!
I like the southern hospitality that each server exemplifies.
Good food and good service, generally. However, the last time we were there my friend and I split a crab cake hash dish special/feature at lunch for $18. We got half a (yes, I said one whole)crab cake with an egg on top, some hollandase sauce and a few fries. This was very unimpressive and a surprise at $18. Certainly not a good value.
The food was very good and our server was fantastic.
Everyone has to try the she-crab soup. It's nice a creamy with plenty of chunks of REAL crab meat. There's a slight edge from the sherry, but it's not overpowering, but rather right where it should be. Cup of she-crab + salad = plenty of flavor, food quantity and value for lunch.
If, however, you feel like a truly Southern cuisine indulgence (that will cost a little bit more than the average lunch fare), try the Crab Hash. I know what some of you are thinking. I too used to feel unsettled at the mere mention of poached eggs, but this dish showed me how wrong I could be. Mixed with a perfect, sweet hollandaise a massive helping of lump crab meat, and the restaurants signature fingerling potatoes, I dare you to try to remember you're even eating eggs. It's not about the individual ingredients, but rather the overall effect of the proper mix on your taste buds.
Other recommendations in brief:
Caesar salad + chicken - comes with signature hush puppies!!
Pimiento burger - Go ahead and skip the ketchup. You don't need it.
Catfish Reuben - Southern, fried, fresh catfish. Great value.
As I am a repeat but infrequent customer, that is all that I have experienced personally, but, as South City Midtown has yet to disappoint me, I am very optimistic about the rest of the menu.
The atmosphere is a little bit quieter than some of the nearby competing restaurants, which is nice, but don't expect solemn silence. It's Crescent street in Midtown. It's always going to be a little bit boisterous unless you're there at a really odd hour.
In terms of nearby competition, I believe South City to be your best choice for the money if you're looking for something more creative, i.e. beyond standard sandwich/burgers/salad midday fare. If you want something of similar or (in some people's opinion) better quality, you'll have to look to some of the fancier, more expensive places like Oceanaire, Veni Vidi, Trois, etc.
