First off, the manager, Eddie Romero makes you feel at home, welcomes the guests and appreciates the business. He is spot on when it comes to taking care of a busy night at ElTaco. The bartender, Juana, is patient, efficient and delivers customer service to the highest level. Then the chef Alejandro, really cares about the quality of the food, in fact, the food is so much better since he came to the restaurant, the quality, the flavors and the size of the tacos. Excellent cuisine. This restaurant is my top choice in the VaHighland neighborhood. Food, service and hospitality is the BEST!! Also, love the new wheat beer draft choice. Thanks, Marsha Raeber
We like the fact that you open a 5:00pm. We get there right at 5:00pm and font have to wait for a table. It is always clean and the servers are friendly.

Had the duck breast with peas. The duck breast was really good, and the peas may have been the best I have ever had. Outstanding.
Management and staff are very welcoming. Food is always fresh, hot, and delicious!! Waiters/waitresses are pleasant, accommodating, and attentive. Atmosphere is quiet and relaxing.
Everyone was amazing! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and patient. The GM was very accommodating and took time to show us the patio room for a private event. This is our fav spot and not to mention the freakin OCTOPUS!! The chefs are amazing 🥰

We love south city kitchen and we seemingly always bring friends and family in when they visit us in Smyrna. We only wish there were more Fifth Group restaurants in Smyrna!
El Taco has been our neighborhood favorite for over a decade! Problem with that is, we come to expect the same thing every visit, and sometimes we find that a new chef has changed one of our go-to tacos or sides.
For example, we LOVE the smoked chicken taco! However, on the last 2 visits the meat was too "saucy" and didn't have the great smoked flavor it had previously. I realize the meat was somewhat dry before, but the guacamole and crema were enough to counteract it.
Also, I miss my favorite drink, the Brisa, which is no longer on the menu. Juana makes them for us anyway, but I worry that if she isn't there, I won't get my drink. On a happy note, we tried her drink special (in addition to the Brisa) which was fantastic!
