The staff members at Skyline Y are amazing! They are consistently welcoming, professional, friendly, and encouraging. I am always talking up this branch of the Y, because it is fantastic. I went there last fall to try out Tammy's line dancing class, and I was impressed by how welcoming she was, and the sense of fun and camaraderie that she fosters. That class has become the highlight of my week. She also introduced me to egym, which got me into strength training, and now I'm feeling stronger and healthier. Tammy also encouraged me to bring my son to the gym with me, and told me about the Youth Fit certification. When my son came in for the Youth Fit training, Eddie did a super job putting him at ease, explaining everything clearly, and inspiring him -- now my son wants to go to the Y to work out as often as possible. I've also taken classes from Erica and Sarah, and those were fantastic, too. All of the Skyline staff members are very personable; they make an effort to get to know the regulars and make us feel at home there. It's a special place, and I'm grateful to all of the staff for making it that way. Thank you, Y!
One of the group exercise instructors suggested that I try the Egym at Skyline to get started with weight lifting and it has been great! I highly recommend this to everyone who is a beginner. The machine does all the tracking for you. You will build strength without feeling like you are punishing yourself. I have been doing cardio workouts for a long time but I was never one to lift weights. Now I have less back pain and normal lifting is less of a struggle when I am doing things around the house.
The staff is the best around! You feel a sense of community at Skyline.
This YMCA is fantastic! And such a great, central locatioon. The place is exceptionally clean with very new and usable equipment. The staff is incredibly helpful, friendly and professional.
AJ is a wonderful, welcoming employee- she never fails to greet me and always has a smile on her face.
Frankly, I enjoy the smaller environs and lack of children, youths and basketball playing. The egym machines are amazing in that they seem to accommodate all kinds of body shapes, sizes and relative strengths. Already I am gradually nurturing new friendships and bonding. The moral support, technical assistance and encouragement provided by Eddie, Tara, A. J. and Maddie is indescribably helpful. Soon I plan to step outside my comfort zone and engage in a cycling or yoga class. Personally, I find a communal experience motivates me as I see others succeeding and struggling. The price tag of $60 a month seems a little steep, so I am considering changing my insurance coverage or doing something to try to halve the cost. Personal training with Eddie Blue is one of the best decisions I’ve made. My life is really hard right now and the training that we are doing has been keeping me in the game and able to take care of my family. Love this Y location.

The facility was very clean, had all the equipment needed for free weights, and the population was not as crowded as the larger YMCA facilities which allows for ease of workout and ability to get through a full workout with the equipment being free.
It's friendly, clean, and I actually look forward to working out.
My one complaint is that it smells like urine and old socks on M, W, F between..oh..say 10-ish and 11:30-ish. They turn on the fans about that time so it's back to normal AFTER I finish my workout. Now, I'm not the one causing the incredibly noxious odor, it just seems to be pervasive while I'm working out M, W, F between 10-ish and 11:30-ish. So it's a great place, except M, W, F between 10-ish and 11:30-ish.
I've also heard that there's this old guy that laughs while he's doing goblet squats with a heavy weight. It scares the bros. Gotta watch out for those old guys listening to Smartless.

Of all the sites I have been to, this one by far is my pick. The welcoming and caring staff and smaller community environment is what makes it unique and my first choice.

Skyline is very convenient and clean. It’s also easy to go at a time when it’s not too crowded. We also like the E-Gym workout option. Thanks!

It’s easy to drop in to do the eGym machines at Skyline Y. Right now I’m trying the Challenge of 20 workouts in 25 days!

I normally use the Y at Barr Street but decided to try the Skyline branch here in Fort Wayne.
I was very impressed with this satellite branch. Neat, clean, and organized this more modern branch leads me to hope downtown will eventually will have a new full size branch mirroring this concept.
