It's close to where I live, the staff are always friendly and helpful, the place is clean and i love the steam room and sauna in the women's change room.

The Lakewood YMCA is a fantastic facility. It has great programs and welcoming staff. The equipment is up-to-date and the lockerroom is very nice. It has a great atmosphere and it attracts friendly people..I am also pleased with the opportunity to give back to the community through its Christians tree and other community outreach.

I do not consider myself a Lakewood Y member. It is one branch of Durham Y I attend. I like Nancy's classes, Pilates and Boot Camp which are at Lakewood.
Kindness of staff, covenience of location
We are retired and go mostly to the Lakewood Y. The friendly, helpful staff managing a clean and COVID-conscious facility promote a family-like environment for a healthy and active retirement. We appreciate having that at this point in our lives.
Great equipment, never feels too crowded, very comfortable atmosphere
Front desk attendants are alert and friendly. Sam C is a seasoned yoga instructor -- on par with any instructor I've experienced in a private studio. Same comment about Briana (barre).
NOTE: you could keep the exercise studio floor a little cleaner from dust balls AND repair the bar -- it falls off the wall if you lean on it too hard, seems like an accident waiting to happen. Although, It would prolly be better to remove it and purchase about four additional free standing bars so there is adequate equipment for the barre class.
I love the atmosphere, the ability to walk outside on the track, and the sauna!
