I come to the YMCA for the people. Jessica and Laurie are outstanding instructors. They keep me coming back.
That said, we really need some work in the group fitness studio.
There are not enough yoga blocks for a full class and some of them look like they were chewed on by a dog or toddler. I don't know how often the blankets are washed and I didn't get one the last two times I came to class because there are not enough. I hear that the Cary Y has yoga bolsters -- why don't we have nice equipment like them?
I’ve enjoyed the swimming and tennis courts. The website is not easy to navigate though
The pool, swim lessons, childcare and the gym are the main reasons we joined the YMCA. I like the family events and the cleanliness of the gym.

I like the variety of classes offered and convenient location.
Staff are very helpful. Laurie's workout classes are great. The gym in the basement is too small given the number of people who share this limited space. The shower rooms are undersized - too few toilets, showers, and space to dress and undress - especially when the children from the various camps need to use the limited space.
The kids love it and always looking forward to it
My son comes home tired and excited about the day. He seems to be learning about how to play and interact with others.

I really like the location, the reception personnel, the appearance and cleanliness of the facility, and availability and quality of the operational exercise equipment.

Engaging with the kids
I love Jessica’s yoga classes at hope valley and lakewood.
Various substitute yoga teachers have commented on how the Durham ymca branches have less resources than the Cary and Raleigh branches. I’d like to request more props like blocks and whatever tools the teachers request. And I’d like to request the floors be cleaned more thoroughly or more frequently.
I really like the 6:15 am Friday yoga class! It is excellent.
One suggestion: Could the front desk staff be asked to keep voices lower during that yoga class? Certainly, there's no expectation of silence. All members deserved to be warmly greeted as they arrive. Sometimes, though, the early morning exchanges get loud. We can hear whole conversations as we're doing final relaxation. Likely it never occurred to these staff members how intentionally quiet it can get in class. I'm suggesting they try to maintain lower voices to the extent possible.

This year the camp is more organized. The staff are supportive and caring.
The pool is the reason i joined the YMCA. The lifeguards are excellent at their jobs, smiling helpful and professional.
After observing the summer camp staff interact with the children, i also would rate them five stars five diamonds.

My son loved it! From arts, to swimming, to free time playing, he really enjoyed his week. Everyone was so nice and welcoming!

The staff is very courteous, helpful and friendly. The classes and schedules are very conducive for both folks who have hectic jobs as well as retirees.

Overall, now that the pool has closed for the year, it is a nice facility. The gym on the lower level and the group fitness room on the main level divide the workout areas. The classes are getting more crowded and hitting capacity limits as instructors gain popularity. Still problems remain with the IPad sign in system, especially on weekends. The overall cleanliness has declined. When I talked with a facility person last week about how dirty an air filter was, he took a pic and said it would be changed , but a week later it still hasn’t been.
