The fellowship! It's a pleasure to be greeted in a kind manner by the staff and to see regulars and have conversations with everyone.
I appreciate the friendly staff and awesome Zumba instructors. The facilities are clean and the schedule of Grp exercise classes dependable. Now that it’s summer, I wish there was an easy to understand schedule of swimming opportunities for ADULTS at the various YMCAs in the area. It seems the pools are very dominated by kids.
Great people and great facilities!
The pool and wonderful water aerobics instructors
Nice large gym, staff is helpful and minds their own business (not true in other Y locations), very clean facility, great new coffee/tea machine, much appreciated.
Sam is one of the finest yoga teacher around
The care and expertise of the instructors and the staff.
Excellent facilities and equipment, pleasant helpful staff.
I love that the YMCA is absolutely welcoming; the folks at the front desk are always quick to say hello and scan your bar code, offer a locker, and they are honestly thrilled that you are at the Y. It is SO LIFE AFFIRMING to be welcomed every time by these open and engaging folks! The facility has beautiful racquetball courts which we can schedule very easily through the app, and that is highly supportive of the racquetball partners. I love coming to the Y!
The welcoming staff is friendly, and the noise level is moderate (music not blaring). Overall, the cardio and workout equipment is kept in good shape and the facility is clean. Having more TVs turned on and showing different channels in the downstairs workout area would be nice.
Friendly staff and excellent water aerobics instructors.
Great classes, nice staff, affordable
Very accommodating staff and great hours

Its an alternative to what is offered in Durham
I love the community and the instructors.
I'm personally recognized...with a smile. Staff is friendly elpful.Diverse selection of equipment.
Extremely friendly staff! Also a broad spectrum of equipment in the facility!
The warm welcome when I walk in the door / classes
The classes (and instructors) are excellent! I do wish there were more lunchtime options for yoga and strength training, ideally between 12 and 2 pm. That time slot would be ideal for someone with a busy full-time work schedule. I also really appreciate the friendly greetings from the front desk staff. They always offer a cheerful hello when you arrive, which sets a positive tone for my workouts. I continue to find the treadmills underwhelming (I've been mentioning this for years and they still haven't been updated). Each one seems to have some sort of small but persistent issue--whether it's a fan that won't stay in place, loud banging noises while running, or TVs that don't work properly. These problems make the experience more frustrating than it needs to be.
The whole process is easy and smooth. Representive JK Fox was extremely helpful solviing my questions through emails. There are follow up emails introducing various services. I just have not had time to experience it. Thank you..
Getting started is going well, now to schedule my orientation. Thanks…
The classes - especially Zumba and HIIT
Great staff pretty good facilities
I like everything about the chapel hill ymca, but I'd like to write about HVF. I live closer to it and when the pool is open, want to go work out there. Here are my suggestions:
1. Desperately need a fan or ventilation system downstairs. It's hot and smelly when a number of people are there in the evenings.
2. They need to keep the A/C at 68. It is usually on 70 and everyone is too hot.
3. They need to not worry about people sneaking in or jumping in the pool and allow us to open the door to the outside to get some fresh air into that facility
4. They need to either hook up the tv's to blue tooth or put in a strip to watch tv on each machine.
5. There is room, albeit not much, for some more equipment . They need the dip and pull up machine. They need a tricep machine and a more modern leg press machine....to at least start.
6. Please let me know this has been taken seriously and forwarded to management. I've put a lot of thought into it.

love my experience
I love the outdoor pool at Meadowmont during the summer and indoor Tai Chi and yoga classes
I love our local YMCA, including its super friendly staff, fun classes, and equipments.
My biggest concern is the facilities. In the locker room, sometimes there is mold and smell. The smell in the closed sauna/steam room area sometimes can get extremely strong. Also, please put up strong worded signs in the sauna room warning people do not throw water anywhere in the room on any surface. They damaged the sauna system and ruined our sauna time.
I suggest if one is found to pour water in the sauna room, he/she should be regarded as deliberately damaging YMCA properties and should bear heavy fines.
We love the Y - the membership is a “must have” for families in the Triangle.
- It seems like we can rarely enjoy the Lakewood Park because we are not permitted there when campers are in-site.
- scheduling and organizing 1:1 swim lessons has been a pain. We have to travel to Cary for them and we were not permitted to schedule the 8 lessons out in advance or get the same time slot week to week. Though the instruction has been fabulous.
- Lakewood flag football viewing area around the fence is normally littered with trash - it’s gross and embarrassing to bring family and friends and a misrepresentation of our lovely, and typically clean, Y.
- Thx for adding outdoor changing tents at Hope Valley. It really helps our large 2-girl, 2-boy family change safely before and after the pool.
From the moment you walk into the Y, the receptionists are always cheerful and conversational. I like having the variety of things you can do for exercise. If you come with someone and finish early, you can always go work on a puzzle or have a good cup of coffee or tea. So glad I joined!
