Member Testimonials
My wife and I have been members of the Tom Taylor “Y” for almost 10 years now and have greatly enjoyed - and benefited from - our time with you. We typically use the facility three times a week where we take advantage of the wide variety of classes in and out of the pool.
Excellent employees with wonderful, helpful attitudes!
Many activities, group or individual, which you can choose to participate.
Lots of parking.
Neat and clean throughout the facility.
A very comfortable place to get in physical and mental shape and maintain it.
A beautiful, clean facility with very friendly staff. It has almost every activity you can imagine. Stretching mats and machines. New weight machines with several of the most used ones, cardio bikes, treadmills, ellipticals and stairs. A punching bag, multiple swimming pools, wall climbing, indoor pickleball, basketball, a variety of classes and an indoor track. We like the lockers where you’re able to set your own code and don’t have to bring a lock. I was able to go for physical therapy before being a member and started going after knee surgery. Anyone can join. My wife and I are on a reduced family plan and my mother in law goes for free with her Kaiser plan. I’m a senior now but they have day care for families and always seem to have fun activities for the kids. I give it my highest recommendation.
I find exercise classes that fit my fitness level even though I'm not very athletic. I like that people of all ages and abilities gather there. I've made friends through my time at the YMCA.
I greatly appreciate the motto "You Belong Here." I love the way they include Hanukkah decorations at Christmas time and include some secular quotes on their reader board rather than exclusively Christian message. I do feel like I belong at the Y.
My only complaint is that the Boot Camp aquatics class allows people to take up space in the pool by just floating and chatting. That wouldn't happen in any other exercise class. The classes are crowded and we need room to move. I wish there was one Boot Camp class offered where you actually were expected to do the activities directed and not have to work around those who don't want to exercise. Or...maybe there needs to be a first-come first-serve system that only permits a certain number of people in the pool for Boot Camp. It's just too crowded.
Lots of class options for my kids
Staff, variety of equipment available
Friendly staff.
Variety of classes etc available. Facility itself.
Susan, at the front desk, was so kind and open with me. I enjoyed my time with her so much as rejoined the Y.
Also, the girl Susan called to take me on a tour could not have been more kind or engaging. She was so fun! (I hate to use this as the trait to remember her, but I want you to know who she is so you can recognize her kindness … She was really cute and had an accent.)
Bravo, Tom Taylor YMCA. The people who work there are much more happy & engaging than my experience several years ago. I’m really happy to be back!
How friendly and helpful all the staff are, even when they are working you out and making it enjoyable.
My partner and I came to Gig Harbor last November to explore whether it's the right town for us after retirement. We visited the Y in Gig Harbor and hoped for a brief tour of the facility. Shelly Morris toured us around the facility and explained all the programs this facility has to offer. Her tour greatly exceeded our expectations. It's no exaggeration to say it was a considerable factor in our final decision to move to Gig Harbor this year. After a few months as members, the facility hasn't disappointed, with its efficient management, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere. The Y is definitely a great asset for the Gig Harbor community! - Oliver
Warm, friendly, accessible
I love the water quality and temperature of the recreation pool. It is such a treat to exercise in such comfort and cleanliness.
The important feedbacks are: Clean equipment, excellent yoga classes, excellent air filtration system, nice seating around the upstairs fireplace, location is close to my home, friendly staff -- including instructors, greeters, etc.
The equipment in the facility could use some repair or replacements -- I use the rowing equipment upstairs. Overall I give it an "A" rating.
How friendly everyone is
The staff and members are friendly, personable, and supportive.
Very friendly staff and great equipment
More than just a gym. All ages and looks of people. No reason to feel intimidated. Have met a lot of good people here. Friendly staff. Clean facility. I feel very comfortable here. Highly recommend.
Everything !!! Clean, people are friendly and helpful. Love all the classes.

Laura - Aqua boot camp
Linda - Pilates
I like the personnel. They are nice and helpful. The Y has so many activities to choose from for kids. It's a family-oriented business.
I really used to like the variety of weight resistance machines on the ground level floor. But almost all of them were sold to a Texas gym months ago, and the new ones aren't the same, which is a downer for me.
But there is a nice variety of exercise options, plus the swimming pools, basketball/pickelball courts, walking track, etc. I do not use these myself, but they are popular options for many, so its a good place to go for exercise of all kinds.. And the kids climbing wall is a great outlet for them.
Nice people, great classes
I like the staff, community, equipment and events!
I love everything about it! The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. The facilities are clean and bright. There is a wide variety of equipment and staff to help you get started. I am constantly amazed at the amount of fitness and wellness classes offered every month. I can't say enough good things about the Tom Taylor YMCA!!!
It's clean, stuff is repaired quickly, and no one on staff pressures you to be social.

My experience has always been good at the Gym. It has a very positive gym culture and staff. They cater to all ages and types. A culture of kindness. Plus they are very pro veteran. Personal trainers in the gym also ensure people dont hurt themselves as they are training others.
