I’m not certain that this is the type of answer sought with the above question, but here goes … The majority of people at this location are pleasant and helpful. Before joining, we had visited and enjoyed meeting a welcoming and informative person who had answered our questions and given us a nice tour of the center. When we returned a few days later to join, our experience was quite different. Actually, we left questioning our decision about having joined because of the personnel - not because of the facility or location. Our greeting upon our second visit was lukewarm at best and the person assigned to take our application was not very knowledgeable about the process. Multiple times they sought the assistance of someone unlikely to win any popularity or most helpful contests. Our visits to the center since joining have been ok, but not (at all) what we expected as far as friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The facilities are great. We are hopeful things will improve over time and the Simones Family YMCA becomes a favorite place to visit and recommend.

I like the zumba and body pump classes
Very convenient to where I live.
Has machines and weights.
Don’t like that all too often tv’s on the treadmills lack sound or a picture.
The equipment is always in good repair, the newly remodeled facility is great & the staff is friendly & helpful. Great place to workout!
Counselors and lake experience
Highly functional, newer machines, multiple varieties of machines to accommodate all. Not overly crowded. Friendly staff!
Swim pools
Staff is great. It offers most everything a large expensive gym offers.
We like the community aspect.
YMCA workers are nic. The building is clean and have recently updated bathrooms.
Eveeryone feel welcomed.

The remodel of the lobby allows for friends to meet
My kids came back so happy, sharing all the incredible experiences they had and friends they met. My daughter who was bullied at school the past couple of years came back with nothing but positive things to say about the other children and counselors. This happened to be our last minute plan while I was in summer school but after the hurricane in Houston, my house had no power for 9 days so had to pick them up and find a camp while my husband stayed with a friend to still go to work. So fortunate I found the YMCA. We may come back next year just for the camp any get away from the mosquitos and humidity. Thank you to all.

The community, classes, instructors and facility
I love Pickleball and the people I play with. It doesn’t discriminate. We are all colors, all ages and we come together with one common interest, the love of Pickleball.

Bright, clean, friendly, lots of services
Great staff. Great variety of classes for all levels and abilities. Great facility with tons of equipment. Great pool. Easy to park now that they have added the parking across the street. Baby sitting available.

Although the Semones Family YMCA is in the middle of one of the largest cities in the United States, it feels like "Mayberry" when you visit. You are greeted and checked-in by a welcoming faces, many of which know your name. Whether you are working out or drinking coffee in the lounge area, you cannot help but run into friendly folks you have known from the neighborhood for decades or those you have just recently met and want to become more acquainted with.
Good selection of fitness classes & options…. Really nice, refreshed facility…. And even with continuously-increasing membership fees, at least our Y contributes significantly to our community & beyond!!
