The instructors are knowledgeable and committed to teaching proper technique.
varied and well scheduled
Aqua fitness in the afternoon. I work part time and have rheumatoid arthritis. So the only doctor recommended activities are walking, biking, or swimming. Swimming is my favorite and this is the only aqua fitness near where I live. Thanks for making this possible for me.
Also, you have a wide variety of other activities that an almost senior can enjoy, including strength training which is so important after menopause.
The programs at Y are full of variety suiting all ages and well tailored with excellent tutors, equipments and conducive environment. The staff are courteous and helpful
Group exercise instructors are excellent.

Group X classes
Good mix of offerings.
Great class instructors and people who go there.
Clean, Great staff, and Pool is very nice
My favorite things (in no particular order):
(1) location that I can bike to, with big windows in the gym so you can see Cuesta Park
(2) the eGym weights circuit because it reduces friction (no decisions to make) and is time-efficient, I'm able to keep reasonably disciplined about doing weights
(3) Pilates classes with Nicole. I've taken reformer pilates from many people over the years. She is exceptionally good.
(4) Yoga with Elizabeth on Fridays at 8:30 am. She is also a really good instructor, and I get a lot out of that class.
(5) The egym bicycles because I find it motivating to do the V02 max tests and check my stats,
staff are friendly, place and equipment are very clean, I can always work on the machine without too long a wait
Love body attack with First name removed
I've been doing weight training for nearly 40 years at various YMCA branches, but the El Camino Branch has the widest array of activities I've seen so far. As a senior, I also appreciate how well they separate the youngsters from the adults when it would otherwise be a distraction.
The staff is quite courteous and the facility is adequately staffed in general.
I have a few minor issues:
Pre-Covid, there was a massage therapist on site. I think this would be good to do again.
I'm a little surprised at the lack of programs for seniors. When I look around, it's clear that this is a large percentage of the membership and there are a lot of possibilities, including social.
No surprise, the parking situation is really bad. Yes, it the result of having a great branch, but if there is a long-term solution, I hope you'll implement it.
Clean,friendly, efficient
good class offerings, equipment is maintained and varied
Everything is clean and full of healthy enlightening environment. .
The Y is just a nice environment for my kids to be in.
Teachers, staff, community. Wonderful staff at southwest Y
I like that programs come in all sizes and shapes and everyone has a chance to join a class at their desire,
great staff and fantastic teachers!
I do not know much about this yet, but the staff never that denied me and the few others I have met were incredibly kind and helpful!
My home branch is South Valley Family YMCA. I visited El Camino YMCA recently for the Memorial Day BBQ (thanks for that!).
The location is beautiful, being right next to Cuesta Park. I love that many of the exercise equipment are next to huge windows looking out to the park. However, I only used the eGym machines, as they recognized my eGym wristband. I love that the leg press has a large monitor that's mounted high, so I can actually sit all the way back and see the screen! That's a huge improvement over the leg press machine at South Valley. I also love that you've shuffled the machines so that you don't do all the arm machines first, then all the leg machines, then the rest. Shuffling them makes a lot of sense, and is another improvement over South Valley. Finally, I'm glad that eGym is placed as close as possible to the water fountain, so that you can refill your bottle quickly between sets without losing your spot. South Valley does this too, but Southwest does not!
I also tried the U-Jam group exercise class. The instructor and class were really great and welcoming, and the multi-purpose room is very large compared to the one in South Valley, which is excellent. We also saw an exercise class downstairs in another large room, which looks very good too. However, my favorite class of all time is Pound, which seems to only exist in South Valley. If El Camino YMCA offered Pound, I would strongly consider going there too!
The locker room also have the newer wooden lockers with built-in locks, similar to South Valley. This is a huge improvement over the rusty metal lockers that require your own padlock that many other locations have. The towel service that provides bath towels is very much appreciated. The soap dispensers for the shower was full when I used it, and the shower pressure was delightfully strong for me.
Regarding things that could be improved, I wish that the small hand towels for wiping sweat during exercise were also provided as part of the towel service. Both South Valley and Southwest YMCA provide this. Also, the 2-hour parking limit in the parking lot is too short for me. My typical visit to South Valley lasts about 3 hours, as I typically do 2 rounds of eGym, 2 exercise classes, and shower. I forgot to ask the El Camino YMCA staff what I could do if I wanted to stay for more than 2 hours. Many YMCA members stay longer than 2 hours at the South Valley Family YMCA location as well, so I would hope that El Camino YMCA can accommodate that as well. My fiancée tried the shower on the women's side, and thought that the water pressure on those were too weak, which was the opposite of what I experienced on the men's side.
Its convenient, the location is right next to a lovely park, the staff is always very accommodating and the teachers as well.
I like the variety of classes,
Its very clean
I like the quality of instruction, the variety of activities, the cleanliness of the facility and the helpfulness of employees. My only concern is the lack of substitutes for the group classes. Very, very happy I joined the Y.
It’s clean. I feel safe using the locker room ( not worried about vandalism & theft). There are various programs equipment to use.
Inclusive environment, friendly staff and community
Lots of variety
Diversity, good instructors
I would love to see a "cleaner" building. The building is getting dusty and grimy in many locations. Showers are showing mold, Floors need repairs, Dust in corners. A higher level of cleanliness on the entire building is really needed.
Gym has become very crowded. Congratulations on all the new members but it does get frustrating.
Need signs in the showers - "No Phone allowed". The teens love taking pictures.

I particularly enjoy lap swimming and appreciate the kind, supportive lifeguards (my favorite currently). In the past, my kids benefited from the swim lessons. The facility is well-managed, with a great gym, free weights, stretching area, and even ping-pong tables.
