Water in pool is a little cold but the instructors I’ve seen so far are excellent!
Excellent
Good teacher and system of teaching and clear standards for each level. I feel like my daughter is learning but it would be nice if class size were a little smaller.
The coaches are amazing! This was my daughter's first experience with basketball, and she was a little nervous on the first day. But with each passing day, her confidence grew, and she enjoyed it more and more. The coaches were kind, encouraging, and friendly, creating such a positive environment that she truly fell in love with the game.
Small size
The variety of them, teenagers do not have as many options as younger kids.
Well organized placement of workout machines - orientation so that you have a feeling of some privacy. Much better than the strictly grid workout at Ross.
Swim Instructor Kayal has been very encouraging, made myself comfortable in water . Taught me different techniques to float.
Beautiful gym. Beautiful pool with beautiful trees. Not too crowded. Sauna.
I wanted to share some feedback about our experience with the child care.
Almost every time we pick up our son, we’re told something he did wrong. Sometimes it’s something as small as not picking up his toys. I completely understand if there are bigger behavioral concerns that need to be shared, but it feels like every pickup is centered around something negative. We rarely hear anything positive about his day, and after a while it makes us anxious about leaving him there.
We’ve also noticed that when our older children come with us, they’re sometimes asked to watch or manage their little brother while he’s in child care. We don’t feel that’s an appropriate expectation. Once he’s checked into child care, we believe his supervision should be handled by the child care staff, not his siblings.
There have also been several occasions where we’ve been asked to end our workout early because our son needed to be picked up. I absolutely understand that safety comes first, and I know our son has gone through a phase where he could be rough with other children. That’s something we’ve been actively working on with him.
That said, I would appreciate a better understanding of the policy for when a child is removed from child care. In the past, he’s been removed for behaviors such as pushing another child or taking a toy. While I understand those behaviors need to be addressed, they also seem like common behaviors for a two-year-old who is still learning. It would be helpful to understand what behaviors result in immediate removal versus those that staff are expected to work through while the child remains in care. If this is the standard policy, I completely respect that. I would just appreciate having those expectations clearly communicated to parents.
Another thing we’ve noticed is that when we come to pick him up, the staff are often standing together talking while the children are playing. I’m sure they’re still supervising the children, but as a parent it doesn’t always give the best impression.
Today there was also an interaction about the no-Crocs policy. I completely understand if that’s the rule. I apologized because I honestly hadn’t seen the sign, and no one had mentioned it before even though he’s been coming for about eight months. After I apologized, the staff member asked, “Do you want to take a picture of it?” I wasn’t questioning the policy, so the response caught me off guard and felt dismissive.
We enjoy the YMCA and want to continue bringing our family there. I wanted to share these concerns because the overall experience with child care has made us feel increasingly uncomfortable. I hope this feedback is helpful.
Very organized and great environment for the kids to learn, even if they aren't the best at a sport.
That it's so welcoming regardless of skill level. There are many opportunities to improve ones skill and athletic ability at the ymca here. And the wide selection of court sports and group workouts at various hours and days of the week makes it much easier to participate and stay healthy whether you're a parent, student, etc.
Community friendly, quite affordable membership, latest equipments.
I don't use many of the activities and programs. Rather, I am working out on my own. I appreciate the quality of equipment available, the cleanliness of the facility, and the helpfulness of the staff. Thank you - you provide a great service to the community.
i love everything about this gym! <3 i want everyone i know to come here
Wide range of activities for all levels of fitness and age
hi. I just started membership. Love the DPP (Diabetes Prevention Program) and my DPP Coach, Kate Liu. I took the introductory facility tour did my InBody Body Composition analysis, and just completed my E-Gym set up appointment. Everyone is so nice. the facilities are beautiful and I am looking forward to begin taking some fitness classes at El Camino YMCA Silicon Valley. Thanks very much for offering the CDC Diabetes Prevention Program. There was no DPP program offered in Santa Cruz County.
The gym
The outdoor pool. Better hot showers would improve the facilities experience

tai chi class is excellent and it is so nice to see campers at the Y
I like the fact that it fits my age group (senior) and staff are welcoming.
I went there as part of my El Camino Hospital pulmonary rehab course, and love that you still use most of the same equipment I am experienced with using.
The only thing I detest is the 1-and-done access to the Matrix brand circuit training equipment.
I was trained to do three (3) sets of each piece of equipment, spacing them out over the course of a week, so doing 1 and moving on to other units that I’m not supposed to do all at once on the same day is counter-productive and actually riskier for my health and wellness.
I do my best to use the equipment when others aren’t around so that I don’t tie anyone up, but it’s frustrating do be in the way and subject to mutters by other people.
I wish there was a special time for disabled people to use the gym each day, or that the 1-and-done process could be rethought.
clean ND FRIENDLY STAFF
Re Holiday hours – I like the idea of at least half-day operation like closing at 1 pm.
Re Weekend Hours – Many years ago, the weekend hours were much later e.g. 8 pm and I missed it very much. I would appreciate that the closing time be extended for at least one hour. ie Sat 7 pm and Sun 6 pm . This would be a great help.
Re Parking:
Finding parking is so difficult especially in the morning (within the time window of the sign that says no El Camino Health staff parking) because I see many El Camino Health employees park at the parking lot. I sometimes have to search for 10-15 mins before one parking spot is available, and there are often other cars looking for parking spots especially in the morning. I knew those people are El Camino Health staff because they wear the medical uniforms with employee tags and walk to or from El Camino Health. I talked to the front desk manager AJ who was not helpful at all. He said, “ …there is a sign… BUT El Camino Health owns the parking lot, there is nothing we can do about it… THEY OWN the parking lot..” AJ’s assumption is questionable. I am sure if the sign is there, El Camino Health must have or should have educated their staff for this. If this is something that they have missed doing or not knowing it is happening, they should be informed of the problem. I don’t believe that their owning of the parking lot means that there is no agreement (could be rental agreement) between El Camino Health and YMCA about the use of the parking lot. I strongly believe that there is a reason that the sign—No El Camino Staff Parking between … -- is put up there. I highly appreciate your help to solve this parking issue.
Thank you
Love the classes, and the staff

Ms Sara is great with our Grandson. Very patient with all the kids even though they all have a tendency of not listening. And Jax learned so much so far after just four lessons. He’s more confident in the water and putting his head in the water.
