I do have one question- I have been told that to accommodate the Red Cross lifeguard regulations, the lifeguards must now walk in front of the instructor on their rounds.
This is weird in itself but, more importantly, I suspect it unintentionally and unconsciously teaches young people that it is ok to disrupt teaching.
Is there a third way to meet Red Cross regulations while also keeping societal norms in place?
My sons both benefitted greatly from Project Cornerstone and some of their peers are now lifeguarding at the Y which is wonderful to see : ) I would like to see if there is a way we can keep the values of respect etc in place!

Facilities are generally clean and users polite (except rare special people who MUST use their cell phones)

I mostly swim there. The staff is amazing, from the check in people to the lifeguards. They are kind, cheerful (even at 5:30 am) and helpful. The facilities are outstanding--I use the lockers every day and like the fact that they are programmable now and i don't have to bring my own lock. It's also heavenly after a cold Feb morning swim to get into a toasty sauna. Sometimes that's the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning!

We are loving the basketball program for our 6yo and almost 8yo daughters. We somehow ended up with YMCA coaches this year for both of their teams (vs parent coaches last year) which has been SO awesome! Coach Malik and Coach Ricky are truly such great mentors and coaches for our girls. I would recommend assigning Y coaches to all teams in the future. It is such a better experience for all involved- more organized practices, more skills reviewed, etc. Thanks for a really great experience so far!
We have been impressed with the basketball program this season. We especially appreciate the ymca refs who really help teach the kids during the games by explaining their calls.
You can take as many classes as you want. I use the programmed exercise machine and they are always in working condition. I like the Friday morning yoga class that I take. It is just the right level for my abilities.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are really supportive any time I have a question about a machine or an exercises regime.
The evening water aerobics classes are awesome. Your front desk staff are welcoming.

The Mountain View YMCA offers many programs and activities to the local community. I am very impressed with this organization. I will be taking advantage of the college tour program that is offered over the summer. Such a great program to offer.

They have a great team of staff, children are well loved and cared for. Very attentive and always responsive. They understand the need and care towards the community. Staff is very friendly and warm. My kid is always happy when he is at Y.
