Class variety. Lots of training. Friendly staff
I would highly recommend Fitness for Menopause with Nicole. She is a very experienced physical trainer as well as nutritionist. Her workouts are intense and hit every muscle group. I am always sore but it’s a good sore. She sends amazing emails discussing nutrition and proper training for women in menopause (or through it). I will probably retake this.
Friendly instructor that finally has my child excited to learn to swim.
Beneficial physically and socially!
I as an 80 year appreciate the lap swimming available in the noon, afternoon periods. All of my swims have been at the Melrose Y.
Have used Melrose and Saugus for stationary bike exercise and have found ample bikes and space for my exercise reading time.
Prefer Saugus for the bike because of the parking and amount of space and available equipment or that there are fewer users: ggod for me not your ideal.
Both have been clean and staffs esp. Saugus very welcoming. Have had to mention lack of soap in the showers back in Dec. and January. After 6+ weeks vacation all good in March.
Easy! Great instructors. I like the program lengthand the class length
My grandson has been taking swim lessons at the Melrose YMCA. He has enjoyed going to class and has had a positive experience there!
Swim instructors are friendly, hard working and kind!
The Group Ex offers so many options, and appeals to many age group.
Facilities are centrally located and hours are easy to access for a busy family life.
Only use the gym with machines and weights and love it!
This is community centered and family friendly resource. It's fitness center is easy to use, and the range of activities available to children, adults, and families is extensive.
I go to water aerobics and love all the instructors
LOVE the live strong program
All staff are friendly
Place is clean
I enjoy the social aspect.
The machines are in good shape. The pool is a nice size and usually warm enough, although I wish the schedule (of when adult lanes were available) were more regular so I could plan on it. The personal trainer packages are affordable and Paul was very good. The free noon fitness class for seniors is very helpful and I especially liked Nancy, who subbed today. I hope she comes back as often as possible (maybe Fridays?).
Thanks for asking.
Not sure if group fitness falls under program activities but I like the classes. Variety and quality are great. Particularly the HIIT kickboxing with Veronica.
The yoga and weightlifting classes. But favorite was the Live Strong program which got me back in the gym.
We have many options to keep busy on a daily basis and take care of our health at the same time, there are programs for all ages and good prices
I like the updated machines and natural light. I enjoy the free weight area. My only issue with the renovated space is that there isn't a lot of room for floor work, e.g. working out with a weight by doing walking lunges, etc. While there are lovely rooms for classes and we are allowed to use them when there is no class in session, we are only allowed to bring mats in those rooms - no weights or other items. So if I wanted more space to use a weight to do lunges, etc, I can't use the classrooms for that kind of thing.
I usually go to the fit class at the Saugus YMCA with Martha Mendoza. She is very good. it used to be in the gymnasium, but now in a smaller space, which is not a great idea as it is very popular and a lot of people. it would be good to return it to the Gym. I have gone to the relaxed yoga on Saturdays with Mimi . she is great. the space is again not terrific, and freezing cold. Hoping that with warmer weather it will help alleviate the situation. Also enjoy Zumba with Martha sometimes. The Melrose Y : I go to kay's fit class ( but now cancelled) that is a huge class. Much needed . Also have tried the yoga at Melrose. Classes are way too large for such a small space. I went on a Monday morning and literally had my arm in someones armpit doing a pose. I. think the Y needs to add some more yoga classes at different times and put a cap on the number.I would like to try other classes. I don't do the machines or any coaching. i like group activities. Overall I enjoy going with friends and or meeting new people
Lots of fun and food and movies and trips!
Bernie Wideman
Coach Alex is great! My kids love him and I know they will have fun at his programs.
Lots of good options for kids! We like camp, swim, baseball, and Gymnastics!
We love the Keep Fit class with Kay.
I use the treadmill. Love the new location. The second floor room offers great natural light and an entertaining street view. Great improvement over basement location. Well done.
Pool!
There is a great variety for all ages
Great Staff! Take time to help you out with whatever questions you may have. Front desk and Fitness center staff are welcoming and friendly. Facilities are maintained and clean.
