The YMCA is a phenomenal organization in the downriver area. They offer so much for the youth as well as adults. The facility is very clean, and every employee that I have encountered has been extremely friendly and helpful.

I love the senior exercise and water exercise classes. I have not exercised in a very long time and they are a great way to start getting back better mobility.

Have Les Mills classes, difficult to find Downriver awesome teachers,Gabby and Lucy. Wonderful front desk staff,e everyone friendly and welcoming.
The best experience can also be the worse experience. Some of the staff are friendly, engaging, and polite. Some are very rude and seem to be on a power trip. When you enter the YMCA in Southgate, the staffing desk is situated in a position where you can't enter the facilities until you scan your ID card. My wife and I have close to 250 visits over the last year and a half to two years. We show up at approximately the same time every visit. The Y has created a new barrier of sorts to keep anyone from sneaking into the facilities without scanning your card. There is no sign telling you not to enter the area. When I dropped my wife off the other day while I was parking the car, an employee approached my wife and reminded my wife to obey the rules and not pass the desk without scanning your card. My wife was 10 feet standing next to the counter and waiting for me to scan our card. If she reads this, I like to offer a friendly reminder that my wife and I have followed every rule for over 70 years. A more friendly approach would have been nicer and appreciated. Maybe a sign telling members that it is against the rules to pass a few feet from the service desk would be helpful. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
I came to the Y to learn how to swim. I must say Kyle is an excellent instructor hands down. I liked the welcome call before my initial visit and I really enjoyed the welcoming as I arrived. Definitely the place to be
Great classes, friendly and helpful staff.

Have lots of programs and exercise equipment.
