So far so good. As a total newbie to pottery, My first class with Doris the instructor was challenging; but thanks to their kind and very comprehensive teaching process felt very comfortable with learning the new medium and looking forward to my 2nd go
My son loves doing the plays! Jay is great and we could not be happier with the theater programs. It has given my son a creative outlet and has allowed him to meet new people and be part of a team.

I have been going to the Salem Y for 30 years. It is a real community. I use the fitness center, take spinning classes, use the pool, the Cold Tub, do 2-3 yoga classes a week. I have different friends in each of those places. They provide first jobs to many teenagers. They have great childcare and Summer Camps.
I use the pool water aerobics classes, land Zumba classes, and my favorite- Tanya’s water Zumba dance. The instructors are fabulous, the attendees are friendly in and out of class. I walk, so no trouble, or cost parking, something several people complain about. Very few shower stalls, there’s always a line waiting to shower after the pool. BUT, Salem Y is the only Y in North Shore with a steam room! Several of my friends go JUST for the steam room!
I love the Salem Y because of the instructors, the folks working the front desk, the steam room and able to walk from my home - 5 days a week!
I do attend the Marblehead Y, for Hanna’s class on Tuesdays, and another workout favorite Gus’s class on Sundays. But no steam room, and unable to walk from my home, but lots more showers.
Instructors are fantastic.
Wonderful yoga instructors, clean facilities, and income-based plans
