My son absolutely loves his swimming classes. I know there was a staffing issue at one point, but the instructors were so great, my child didn't even notice and continued to enjoy himself and to improve.
It helps that he feels so comfortable at the Salem YMCA, and that's due to the amazing Kids Club where he's been able to build trust and a sense of safety while forming wonderful relationships with the staff and other children.

There is something for everyone here at the Salem Y. It is immaculately clean, unlike other fitness centers. The equipment in the fitness center is well maintained and super clean! The staff are all helpful and friendly.
It's the people! I hear this from everyone; the building, and its maintenance, may not be the best, but the people (members, staff, instructors) are. It's a pleasure to belong to the Salem Y.
I recommend it for the excellent, affectionate nature of each of the teachers, the secretary and her director, especially Miss Jade, she is very special and super sweet.

I like the Salem Y because it is in walking distance and the pool is rarely "crowded". I only use the pool and it is almost always a comfortable temperature to swim in. The locker room is clean and there are plenty of available lockers.
