Nerijus is an absolutely amazing swim instructor! My daughter was nervous due to not having great experiences in the past, but we cannot say enough about him!
Gym is well equipped
Variety of classes
I'm giving a 10 for my son Weston's swim instructor John—he is incredible as are his lessons. He does a fantastic job at teaching him. I am super impressed and happy with instructor John.
I will say I'm not as happy/impressed with my 3 year old's swim class. I'd rate it a 3 or 4 max. There are far too many kids and she isn't learning much. She is afraid and they basically just keep her floating attached to the wall. I understand she's afraid/can be tough, but how else is she going to learn?
I think the Y is one of the best places to workout, bc of the variety of classes and weight machines. The pool is an extra added bonus!!
It's the best place to workout in town! I love everything about Lynch Van Otterloo. And Dario's is excellent.
But, since you asked and if I could please mention...
I work out on the fitless floor between 2:00 and 4:30 roughly 5 days a week. I understand encouraging young boys to include weight training in their daily lives, but... is there some way to teach these kids gym etiquette? Volunteers to work with them, something?
They are loud, sit in groups on benches/equipment in their phones while members are waiting, bump into people working out with weights probably because they have no clue what personal space is, they wear moccasins and crocs as athletic shoes, don't appear to know how to use fitness equipment, and on and on and on...
I'm sorry if I sound like a complaining old lady, which technically, I am, but I wish I could change my schedule to find time to workout when these kids weren't there. And I'm not sure it's their fault, they just don't know what gym etiquette is...
Thanks,
My kids love preschool open gym. The parent-child gymnastics is great, as well.
Swim instructor very likable and helpful to my toddler. she’s learned some basic skills while also incorporating songs/ music. My little one is less fearful of swimming on back, dunking in water, and overall is more comfortable in the water! Thank you Marblehead Y

Great faculty…even greater staff!
