Member Testimonials
Friendly And Helpful Employees at the front entranceway and very competent instructors running the group classes. I would highly recommend joining the Y and enjoying the facility and classes to everyone wishing to improve their health.
The LVOO Y in Marblehead is a gem of a facility. It checks almost all of the Y boxes for me. I use the pool. The staff is friendly and super helpful and I love that there is a little cafe there as well as art by local artists on the wall.
My only quibbles are around the women's locker room. I wish the LVOO Y had another Suitmate machine (pulls water out of wet bathing suits). There is only one Suitmate opposite the showers and when there is a water aerobics class, there can be a line to use the machine. Also, people ignore the signs about not using cell phones and tablets in the sauna. I gave up gently and politely telling folks to please not use them. I would get either hateful, irritated stares or some bogus excuse like 'Well, I have to check on my infant son.'
Super place for so many reasons.
I like working out on the machines. I’m a cyclist and use the cycling machine. The few new ones are well made and look good. And the video screen is larger. It doesn’t have a fan but no big deal. But the seat, well for me it hurts. The older version was quite comfortable. This one gave me sores no matter how I position my behind. It may just be me but using it I have to think twice.
The facility is clean, well equipped, and staffed by welcoming people.
It is a nice place to go and it fits my needs sometimes
Good clean facility employing very nice people
It is clean, well staffed with helpful people and the hours are very good.
I really like the pool.
Excellent facilities. Agreeable staff.
Clean facilities with great activities for my child
The people are friendly, especially on the front desk, the facility is clean and
very well equipped.
If there's one problem, it's that some people occupy the machines for far too
long....texting and checking emails. But, they usually allow a work in if asked.
10-15 minutes on a machine is far too long....and poor gym etiquette.
Lots of fun to be had
Great variety of classes very clean and friendly
Many varied classes, clean well cared for spaces. Lots of equipment available. Classes for seniors. Instructors are very good.
It has fitness programs and equipment that makes working out easy and convenient
Love the complete facility. Employees are very nice. Easy to work the machines.
Many activities
Love the new equipment
Large room for chair yoga class
It’s a great Y with good facilities and in a super convenient location with easy parking and programs for everyone.
Friendly staff
Lots of classes to choose from
Well equipped gym
I have been a Y member for over twenty years and appreciate the many ways the Y supports the community. My children learnt to swim with Sue Guertin and I benefit greatly from Laurie-Sue's classes at the LVO. Just two superb examples of the care and expertise provided by the instructors at the Y.
It is a great facility. There are lots of different opportunities and something for everyone. The Y feels very inclusive.
Great place. Big , clean, plenty of machines to wok out.
I love working out there. I use the treadmills and strength train utilizing the machines.
When the gym is very crowded, it can become frustrating as you can see 8 to 10 members sitting on machines for 10 to 20 minutes just scrolling on their phones. What can be done about this?
The Y is great! The staff is the best! Equipment is always available.....as is the pool!
Friendly respectful
Clean locker rooms. Friendly staff. Good work out area. Competent class instructors.
Great teachers & classes are one reason. A good variety and frequency of classes are another. Great humans (both working & being members) at LVO Y who are kind, welcoming & accepting. * Nice facilities. Fabulous hours. Dario’s healthy eating.
*My neurodiverse young adult was keen to do classes and the kindness and support she has received from teachers, fellow class participants & (nearly) all at the Y, in addition to classes she has such fun in, keep her wanting to return. A special thanks to Lisa for frequent fun dance classes along with warm greetings (and full acceptance of wherever participants are in their capabilities to follow along), Tania’s fabulous energy & smile during her super enjoyable water aerobics classes, and all the welcoming & kind participants in both these classes. As a mom, I’m so grateful my daughter feels so comfortable & accepted at the LVO Y that she wants to keep coming! Also, my college student comes and lifts and uses the cardio machines with friends and I am similarly grateful for the whole space the Y provides. (Having come here for a variety of programs starting w baby swim no doubt has something to do w them coming!)
Thank you to YMCA staff, the Lynch & Van Oterloo families, the board, and all members who make the LVO Y so welcoming & a cepting.

Good communication and facilities.
Lately construction has been difficult but appreciate the updates.
Thursday Juneteenth was crazy in the pool.
Lifeguard training (2 lanes) aquarobics (e
3 lanes) very busy lap swimming. Plenty of lifeguards not sure why the lifeguard training wasn’t moved outside or that the outside pool lanes weren’t utilized for additional lap lanes.
