- a lot of space to work out ( you are not on top of each other)
- very clean
- extremely friendly staff
- plenty of machines and equipment to use
- physical therapy on location

The Y has been my community since I moved to Salem in 2016. Seeing the same faces every morning builds a connection with like-minded folks that have become friends.

I’m very impressed with the quality of the facility and the trainers. I started going initially because I had a terrible shoulder / rotator cuff injury. I could barely even move my arm in terms of mobility and strength. The physical therapy department - and Beth in particular - really helped me. Her professionalism and knowledge is really outstanding. Early in my membership, I also added one-on-one training with personal trainers: martial arts training (Muay Thai Kickboxing and self defense) with Nathan, as well as strength / weight / Pilates training with Erika. I cannot say enough positive things about both of them. They are so amazing and really helped me achieve my goals toward health empowerment and to strengthen, slim and tone on top of that! Working with personal trainers has made all the difference in my motivation and discipline to workout. I literally never stepped foot in a gym for many many years, and now I go 4-5 times a week. I really enjoy it now. It’s not a chore, as I once thought it was.

What do you like about our program and activities?

I like that the kids are outside in the playground, that they are regularly in the pool and that they have been exposed to yoga and basketball.

Why are you so likely to recommend the Y?

Our family is able to enjoy a variety of fitness options all at the same time. While one of us is in yoga class, another is in the pool, one is using free weights, one on a recumbent bike and someone else using the (nautilus) machines. It’s been great!
